"Group Buy" for Ipod Interfaces from Vais Technology

Just did a quick count on the DV's sign-up page and we're at 118 buyers! That is impressive!
I'm early in the list so I'll be sure to attempt my install ASAP upon reception of the AIC and note any gotchas during the install. I've already attempted installing an adaptor so getting to the HU is not a mystery anymore, and is actually quite easy.
However, the addition of the AUX input needs to be thought out. I have not found a place on the dash where I really wanna drill a hole for a female 1.8mm stereo input. I've decided to place the AIC iPod connector in the center storage column for easy access from the back seats and will need to drill holes there too. Based on that I'm leaning on a corded female input for the aux. The reason I want to do this is based on having the ability for the iPod to plugged in via the head phone input on weekend ski trips etc. so I can leave the skin on the iPod for skiing, biking, etc. but use the AIC connector for long daily commutes during the week.
Just some thoughts, if you have an idea of a better location for the AIC and AUX cables let me know, I've ruled out the little dash compartment, too crowded and the glove box, keep too much other stuff in there and am trying to avoid any dash mods...

Yes, each unit is being hand-assembled. And I'm pretty sure it is still just Eugene doing all of it, plus processing the orders.

From what I've read in that link, there seems to be some mild problems with text displaying correctly on navigation screens, and almost everyone on this group buy has the nav. The vais system has been proven to work flawlessly with the toyota/lexus nav, so I think that's why we're all on this wait list.
Also, the vais unit will do 99 playlists with 99 songs each which is a big plus to organize thousands of songs, how many playlists can the Dension unit do? thanks.

slowginjoe - I don't have this installed yet but will definitely purchase it for XMAS. Dension has come out with some Firmware upgrades, so hopefully this will cure the problem with text on the NAV.
No clue about the playlist number, I too posted in that thread asking about the number of playlists.

Nope, no calls yet for this group buy.
Eugene is adding some features to a new version for us. Some patience with him will continue to be required. Hopefully they will be shipping in a couple days.

Just got a call from Eugene! Gave him my credit card info. He said it would be shipped this Friday UPS. $221.95 + $20 shipping.
I asked about the aic-100i being discontinued as announced on the prius forum and he said it was just to support the new ipod versions. No other changes. It would be cool if it could support album cover art on the nav screen from the ipod!

Got the Eugene Call
I too just got called for CC info and also asked about new features and was told no new features on this batch.
Looking at Vais online it looks like they are on CO Springs, CO so I should have my unit soon as I'm in CO.
Finally, my 04 4Runner with 50+K miles on it will have a tunes, just in time for ski season!

Got mine! Shipped yesterday, got it today. But I'm only about 40 miles from VAIS.
Now to figure out where in dash, or glove box, or center column where to put this baby. Thinking with the aux input it would be nice to have it easily accessible.
One thing that could be a prob is the ipod cable is kinda short, only about 4' so operating from the back seat in simple mode, (we chase our seats on long drives), will necessitate placing in center column but I'll know more once I begin install tonight.
