"Group Buy" for Ipod Interfaces from Vais Technology

Anyone interested in a "Group Buy" for Ipod Interfaces (These work with Navigation)

I also wanna give props to Eugene at vaistech. He has a great product for a great price and delivered on his promises! My aic unit works flawlessly and exactly as advertised! I actually stopped using my ipod in the car with the crappy FM transmitter, and now I love my ipod again!

I think I'm starting to lean towards using the glovebox, too, but am guessing you had to drill a hole for the ipod cable to enter it. That makes me a little nervous but I look forward to your pictures so I can see exactly where the hole is so I can try to put mine in the same place.

Nope! No hole is necessary except the 4 small screws into the panel that you can't see to mount the aic unit. :D

If you look inside the glovebox area, you can see wiring inside the dash behind it, so there is plenty of space to bring the wire up into the glovebox within the dash from where the aic is mounted underneath.

I ran mine and had JUST ENOUGH wire to stick it "loose" under the drivers seat. the cable comes down and pops out of the side of the center console w/o holes (just comes out between the carpet and plastic). Honestly, I just did it this way as I had only about 30min to 1 hour to install and was doing a road trip the next day. I'll prolly end up leaving it there as it seems to work...although slowginjoe's mounting place sounds quite useful. and I also second his comment for eugene. it's a quality product. as I was driving down the highway listening to the ipod, I scrolled through the recent calls in my cellphone to see if I still had his number in there...just to call him and tell him so. but alas, it had scrolled off the bottom...
 
A question for those that have already received the Vais Ipod interface:

I have a 2004 with 10 speaker JBL, and I added the 2006 Solara Nav (through oemvalue). I was wondering if anyone has a similar setup and can verify that the Text information comes up on the nav.

In terms of functionality, the Vais website says that the ipod pauses when you turn the car off, any confirmations of this?

Lastly, I tend to like to keep most of my music on a large playlist and then just leave it on random (hitting next to skip songs that I don't like). Can you pull this off with the Vais unit? Could I simply make up one large playlist with everything in it, place the unit on random and let it go (hopefully with the wheel controls letting me skip songs that I don't like?

Also, if anyone is interested in trying to get another group buy going, let me know.

I believe the Solara nav is the same unit as my stock nav, so no reason it shouldn't work.

The Ipod pauses when you change to radio or cd. It also pauses when you turn the car off and then it turns off the ipod after a couple minutes.

The Vais unit will only recognize the first 99 songs in any playlist. You can have up to 99 playlists. You can use the 'random' button on the nav screen to randomize songs in any SINGLE playlist. It will not randomize cross-playlists.

Yes, the steering wheel control works with the random feature.
 
Another Group buy??

Are there enough of you interested to try and get another group buy going? I'd love to pick one of these up but $370 is a bit much.
 
I might have one for sale in a couple weeks. I'm trading in or selling my 4Runner when my FJ cruiser comes in May 15th. If I trade it in I'll remove the unit and sell it for ~$200 and include the custum bracket that holds the iPod on the dash...
 
Will this Vais thing work in an my 06' 4runner with factory Nav?
Would love to install one if it works.
Does anybody know if it will work?
