Hard to find Specs, Info & Measurements on 231mm 13WL Tundra Calipers & Rotors

First I used the lug nuts and tightened them to the hub to try and pull the studs through. This caused the nuts to get mangled on the tapered side facing the hub (hub is harder).... next I figured the rotor and wheel being on would stop the shaking of the hub after nuts tightened from the impact wrench (which with me holding hub was just softening the blows). Also figured the wheels being on would kept the nuts from getting mangled... (fyi, didn't use spacers, just offset wheels so they didn't hit caliper too much... studs not being flush didn't allow for spacer to be installed yet)... This was when I started sheering studs.. lol Sooo, next idea was just to use both spacers and allow lug nut to seat into the wide slot to pull against the studs.... It basically worked but all the continued impacting shows it's wear.... the spacer still seems usable though :-) It got alot easier once I grinded down the studs a little.... hope this helps anybody going that route...

my spacers from autozone were not snug to the hub and while I'm sure it's been mentioned somewhere, I kind of figured this could lead to things being unbalanced.... so after I got wheel on (not too snug), I used a flat headed screwdriver at the top of the spacer through the centercap hole to give it that 1/16" of space on the top and basically all the way around... maybe that is overkill but seems logical... In the pic I stuck a tiny twig at the top just to get an idea of the spacing around the hub for the spacer.

Cores aren't a big deal... take the 4runner calipers back in the tundra caliper boxes, the employee of the auto parts store would have to pull out a ruler or measuring device to figure they are different or be keen to the swap out idea and I'd give that a 1% chance.... just return em, they go back to some business that probably reman's both so they will figure it out....

decided to take the plunge. I'm going to end up getting the calipers for $143 total after cores. Junkyard calipers (when I could get anyone to call me back, even) were around $40+ each, then I'm buying rebuilt kit and doing that...might as well spend the extra what, $10 each and get some warranty on them too.

That 30% off code at Advance's website is golden, BTW. Gets you $50 off each order if you do the pads and rotors on one order, then the calipers on the other. Total is going to be around $260 or so.

Do I need the vacuum caps, if so, what size? I saw someone questioning if it was 10mm but no confirmation. If you change the brake fluid out, does this matter? Or are you suctioning the fluid from the res? I could google this ish but figured I'd see what has worked best for you guys.

Also, line wrench a must, or most guys get away with open end wrench?

Vaccum caps you need 3/16'' for the brake lines. You do not need a line wrench, but it can help if you have any corrosion.

I just got all my stuff ordered for this job.
Found the calipers at a yard for $30 each, and the rebuild kit is $10. Also bought some caliper paint for $20...figured I'll do the calipers and drums.

The best deal I found for pads and rotors is on Amazon...$120 shipped
Amazon.com: Callahan FRONT Premium Grade OE 318.77 mm [2] Rotors + [4] Quiet Low Dust Ceramic Brake Pads Kit CFP40474B: Automotive

So all in all, it'll cost me around $210 to do this...not bad considering rotors and pads for the 4Runner stock setup would be $180.

Here are some good videos Speedy created...

Does anyone have conformation on pro comp 7005 wheels fit with these calipers ? They are 17x8 with 4.5" back spacing ? I do not want to run wheel spacers

Damn. Now I'm second-guessing my Wearever rotors/pads from Advance...anyone have opinions on those and also the Callahans?

Update: I ordered the Callahans, despite the Wearevers being on the way. I'll inspect both and decide which I want to keep.

Also, the bleeding-the-brakes link on the first post is broken.

Big brake

If you search post by (bigfishallday) on tundra brake upgrade he compiled a list
Of wheels that are known to fit.

That is this thread man. All the info on known wheel fitments are listed on page 1. The wheel Foxrider is talking about is not on the list, hence him asking if anyone has any knowledge.

Sounds likethe smaller calipers might have been a better idear. Thanks for posting your experience. Makes me think twice at least.

Best thing you can do if you can't find confirmation either way if the wheels will clear, get a junkyard caliper and test fit it.

I see a host of bleeder screws for sale out there. Some are kits that come with multiple. Is there a set size that I want? Rather order today than for double the price at the parts store this weekend when I really need it.

Bought these rims today. Got a smokin' deal. Test fitted them before the 231mm swap to check the clearance and there seems to be at least a 1/4 more clearance and they came off Tundra with the 231's so I'm as certain as I can be that they're going to fit. Should be able to add them to the list.

So if the confirmed wheels on page one Procomp 7089 17" wheels which if I am looking at the correct one that has 4.5" backspacing and 0mm offset fit without wheel spacers, my pro comp 7005 17x8 With 4.5" backspacing and 0mm offset wheel will clear the 231 calipers. Or am I looking at the wrong pro comp 7089 wheels ?

Anybody know if the specs I found on the confirmed wheels on page one the Procomp 7089 17" wheels has 4.5" backspacing and 0mm offset ? That's the correct wheel specs right ?
Sorry to be a PITA but I just want clarification, if those are the correct specs then I'm in the clear since mine are the exact same specs as that

The wheels I run are 4.5" BS with a -6mm offset. I would think that 0mm offset would still work. Especially since the inside diameter of the wheel would most likely be bigger on a 17" wheel.

Thank you ! I am just trying to bet some conformation on my wheels before I take the plunge

Hi all, I now this thread is for the tundra upgrade but thought of asking this question here as its relevant.

I am planning to do a stock rotor/pads replacement on my 97 SR5 with stock 16" alloys, the 3 split-spoke design. Came across two options -

WAGNER Part # BD125527
Front; 6 Stud Wheels; 318mm Dia. Rotor; w/16" Wheels

WAGNER Part # BD125503
Front; 6 Stud Wheels; 297mm Dia. Rotor; Except 16" Wheels

Is BD125527 the right part number out of these two?
