Headlight TSB

I've done some searching and printed out the TSB. The question I have is if my runner is after the production change or before. I have an appointment to take it in next Wednesday, I would just like to prepare myself for what may come. On the TSB it says that is applies to vehicles before JTEBU5JR#C5077980. I checked my vin and my last numbers are C5090_ _ _. So does that mean that mine is after the change? I'm still under the 36K mile part and right at the 3yr. I'm just getting prepared If they give me a hard time and have to "discuss" this with them in a nice way or go above them. Any help is appreciated.

I'm having another issue with my runner that I am anticipating causing trouble with the dealer. Essentially, my seat needs replacing and I'm wondering how they are going to handle it.

As for the headlights hazing, they didn't hesitate at all to replace mine when I showed it to them.

So, maybe you won't have any trouble. Sorry I can't be any more help.

You are correct. The tsb does not apply to your specific vehicle. But your original 3/36 warranty will cover the headlights. They should not give you any problems.

I have to say thats not really something I can snuggle up to at night. Not a big fan.

So just got the car dropped off this morning for the headlight and driveshaft tsb. Talked to the same girl I always do and she took care of me. I provided copies of both tsb's, and she fought for me with management. My vin is just past the headlight one and I think I'm technically roughly 3 weeks past the 3yr mark on ownership. But they ordered the parts and I will have them replaced next week.

UPDATE!

I went to pick up the runner this afternoon and had a bad feeling. And it was founded. The whole time it was at the dealership I worried about them having to take the bumper cover off for the light replacement. They managed to jack it up. I marked the lights and the driveshaft to make sure they were replaced and took pictures of the lines of the front bumper before I dropped it off. Inspected the car before I even talked to anybody. The lines didn't line up, there was two spots where it looked liked it was pried on, and the top bolt in each fender well was missing and the tabs were broken. I'll take pics tomorrow and post. Talked to the service writer I guess and service manager. Going to take it back on Tuesday for them to fix and provide a loaner car. We will see........

What a shame , such a simple repair for a Toyota dealership with qualified techs,all the factory training,factory parts and repair guides.with all that they still do a hack job .And that's the part you can see ! What about the stuff you can't see. So sad you can't get anything done right unless you do it yourself. I was hit by a drunk driver in my brand new at the time 2011 scion TC . I took it to Toyota for a factory certified repair and is was very expensive. After the 5th time back and all the missing bolts,broken clips,and misplaced wiring , it was like a used car lot slapped it together it was very sad.I had to get rid of it. I did not even feel right about selling it to someone so I traded into Toyota, they feel it's a certified repair let them stand behind it and explain there shoddy work.

I agree 05runner. I hear you also stiffy. Not worth it to some, it is to others. It does not explain the sh!tty job that was done. It was a simple task that was screwed up. Would it have been an option to get the parts and do it myself I would have.

that wsa my point... they are going to haze again and in the process those baboons jacked up your truck. Idiots left the retaining clips out of my radiator cover and when I was driving home I was like WTF is that sound. Opened the hood and it was shoved down inside.... incompetent monkeys!

I know and remember you said that. If I was going to have to fight for it I wouldn't have but they said they would do it. Now I have to say I am going to talk to them today, because they don't have a good track record with my car. They are the same dealership that didn't use the frame extensions when doing my 5k service and bent my running boards. I more than likely won't be going back here. I run my own business and get held to a high standard. I guess I just expect other people to do the same type of work.
