got started tonight on getting these foglights installed. They are really nice, high quality and seem like a really well put together setup. Im mounting them on my stock front bumper, got the holes drilled and mounting hardware on. Im waiting to put up pics because its still not wired up and buttoned up nicely...... I also repainted my grille and put on my 'new' front toyota badge Im really looking forward to using these lights on the trail (are they legal on the street?).

Those are some of the nicest looking lights period but yes,you will draw the attention of the cops if you ue them on the street since they will blind other drivers.

Most places will not allow lights like this to be used on the street, but that doesn't stop the countless numbnuts riding around in Mommy & Daddy's Beemer from using fog lights.

You can always aim them more towards the road - the visual effect will be there, but they won't be blinding other drivers.

what am i supposed to do with the blue "ground" wires that come from each lamp? Ground them to something? The wire ends are exposed.......

I must say, for as nice as a kit this is THE INSTRUCTIONS BLOOOOOW. I bought a $20 set of light from autozone and they had better instructions.
For example, there is a 'wire crimper" i guess its called, anyways its included in the kit and not mentioned once in the inst. No pics yet, but once the frustration wears off and i get em mounted ill be posting. Looks like rain too, great.............

i used this diagram from the 3rd gen forum since hella couldnt make instructions this ez. If you look at the lamps, the blue wires labeled as ground are what im reffering to, what to do with em?

"Step 7: Grounding the Lights
Unlike other writeups, I decided to fuse both light's blue ground wires together and then connect only a single ground. Begin by fusing (preferably with solder) the wires to each other. Next, strip off the wire off the longest wire and then connect a ring connector to it. Following the tip above, sand down a little spot on the chassis and ground this combined ground wire.'

if im reading that correctly, im supposed to used the 5" pieces of ground wire for each light and ground them somewhere , either way with wire that im gonna have to magically pull out of my as$? this is pi$$ing me off

here they are, mounted and i believe 90% wired. i gotta figure out what to do with the ground wires coming off each lamp before I can apply power and flip the switch. Thats gonna wait till tomorrow, now im gonna go party with my kidneys, liver and lungs. Happy Friday!

Thats my closest friend and most favorite thing on the earth, His name is Caesar, he's a Weimaraner. Hes about 8yrs 9mos old. Found out about a month ago he has lymphoma cancer and has since been in chemo and the cancer is in remission so back to topic, his name is Caesar.

well after my igorance wore off, i realized i could ground them on the frame, gotta love when ideas click. now if i could only find my MF headlamp!

question: if i were to want to extend those ground wires (blue ones coming from lamp) would i have to use a specific (matching?) type of wire or will any wire that come in the kit work?? I have some extra from other parts of the kit that i trimmed...... id rather have the grounds located higher up, under the hood, instead of RIGHT behind the bumper which may or may not be more susceptible to sticks and debris on the trail. Thanks anyone

You'd probably want to use a gauge of wire that is at least as big as the one supplied with the lights. You'll be running a bit of current through those ground wires.

Yessiree! FINALLY got them wired up tonight, i didnt realize a ground is simply relying on a contact, regardless of wire type..... but duhhh.I ended up using black (power) cord that I trimmed out of the harness, PROB SOLVED. Anyways, got everything buttoned up, only prob is my switch doesnt illuminate when turned on. I think my ground is poopy there. Anyways, they are QUITE BRIGHT! In their current aiming config they form a nice large round beam that is center of the headlights and a little higher, people would be BLINDED, DEF NOT for road use lol as mentioned above. Ill have to hit the trail some to determine where i want them, as is i cant really bring em much higher due to the grille.
Anyways, im very happy with the setup! I wish i knew a little more about electronics before getting so frustrated (ALL FOR A DAMN GROUND LOL).

THANKS, i appreciate it. He had a rough weekend, a strong reaction to the chemo drug used in the most recent phase of the treatment.... been at the vets the last two night on IV.....coming home tomorrow though!! GOTTA LOVE EM!!! i wish i could donate a few years to him
