well im new to the forum and i have a 1994 4runner 5speed 3.0 little backgroud on the problem. one day at the lake trying to cross this spot i always cross i guess it got a lot deeper and i was all the way up to my engine so it shut off and i pulled it out pulled the plugs and let it dry 3 hours later put it back together and drove home after about 10 miles of running rough it slowly went back to normal. a week later and running normal i took it camping where there was a ton of dust when driving at the end of the trip i started my truck and it would just die finally started it gave it gas and drove it home noticied it had a loss of power stumbles and hesitates and runs very rich with black smoke out of the pipe. replaced plugs wires 02 cat with no change codes are 24 31 so thought maybe vfam so i put my buddies vfam on and it would start idle around 1200 but sounded normal no more black smoke then would drop down real low and struggle to stay running then die giving it gas didnt really do much of anything. anyone have a guess on what it could be i still think my vfam is bad but i think something else has to be bad as well
