HELP! 2015 TRD PRO NO START= TuRD?!

So, are you going through a lot of credit cards due to magnetic corruption? I can verify the fob isn't needed to start your vehicle if the battery in the fob fails. I drove our Tundra to Sam's Club one day and locked it with the fob. When I came out it would not unlock - dead. I unlocked the door with the key. The alarm went off and I got some much needed attention! I jumped in and started the truck and the alarm cancelled.

Also a few months ago the Tundra started locking and unlocking its self. I could hear the beeps from my chair in the living room. The Tundra was parked in the garage. It took me a bit to figure out what was happening. I suspected the fob batteries and changed them out. This helped, but it still does it occasionally. As a result I never leave the key in the truck.

And this is why I repeatedly asked if the red security light on the dash stayed lit while trying to start it but my question was never answered. When a bad key is used, the light will stay on and it will let you know there's a problem. Glad you got it sorted out but likely could have solved this a long time ago.

Holy cow... I was close, but that is not what I would have thought of.

I was thinking you must be in some abnormal RFI EMI situation. Would not have guessed you were getting locked out too, due to a fried key due to the EMI.

Damn, man you should win some sort of prize for most bizarre trouble issue.

You are actually probably lucky it never failed for the dealer. They would have replaced everything but the cup holder by now.

Interesting thing though is that the remote worked to lock and unlock the vehicle. It just wouldn't start it. I'm going to put this together as a presentation and have Toyota pay me for it.

I kept re-reading everyone's input and the day before I figured it out I remembered what you had suggested. The light did NOT stay on. I looked for everything. I waited and waited but as I held the key forward without cranking it all lights went off.... as I cranked it and then stopped cranking all the lights stayed off (except for the stupid seat belt light).

Not sure I understand how the "dumb" valet key can start the car without the immobilizer being deactivated.

Valet key has a chip in it just like the other keys do. Just doesn't have a remote. Chips are nothing new. They came about in the 80s
