So a buddy at work was raving about these OPT 7 HID conversion kits, and I got admit it looked pretty good on his Jeep so I said what that hell and bought a kit for $70 bucks. Thing is being a pain in my *** though! I tried it with relay and capacitor, with out etc. Finally got it working on both sides with no flickering, was super happy because it was brighter than stock halogens. Then all of a sudden passenger side light stops working, checked all my connections and everything looks fine. Anyone ever install one of these kits on their 5th gen? Im thinking at this point one of the ballasts are faulty.

a quick google search shows me its a generic chinese HID company.. could be crap wires, ballasts or bulb.
have you tried switching the bulbs to see if its the 1 side bulb thats out? and/or try switching the ballasts to isolate the problem.
Yeah the passenger side bulb worked on the driver side, and the driver side bulb did not work on the passenger side. Im starting to think the passenger side ballast is crap. Even though the components appear to be pretty decent quality I Guess you get what you pay for.

Oh thanks for the tip, can you suggest a not shitty kit so Im not a hazard to the rest of the world?

check out the retrofit source.
One should not be installing HIDs into halogen reflectors, so a projector retrofit is needed. This isnt just because "i said so" its a safety concern for you and other drivers.
[MENTION=51186]philsey[/MENTION], [MENTION=80307]Jaker[/MENTION], and countless others have done this (i am in the process of doing this too). Its not too difficult if you are at all mechanically inclined (if you are not confident in your ability to do this there is always lightwerkz, who [MENTION=51186]philsey[/MENTION] has used many times). Also there are countless threads/pages on the internet (especially HIDplanet) where there is information to assist you. There is also all of us on here who have done quite a bit of research already who are willing to assist if you need.

Unless you've sold them you already have a spare set of lights, which means you're part way there.
IIRC, members [MENTION=48772]Jesse1983[/MENTION] and [MENTION=8206]harper7[/MENTION] posted a diy retrofit. There is also tons of diy info at HiDPlanet, plus helpful members. You can also paint your old lights' trim (ala TE) while apart. Plus you know how to rip the front end off.

I'm having the same problem as the op, but its my driver side that doesn't want to work. I'm using morimoto ballasts and lights so quality is not an issue.. I did have another set of ballasts around, some chinese brand I'm sure, that did the same thing. Drive side wouldn't work at all.
side note-- when I first plugged the morimotos in, passenger side fired right up and stayed on, driver side came on for about 3 seconds and then off. It would flicker on for 1 sec and it did that for about 2-3 times then nothing.
Back to the chinese ballasts.. I plugged the working one (from passenger side) into the driver side and it works perfect. So morimoto in passenger and chinese in driver. And I have one of each of the brands that are not working. Is there any way I'm screwing these up? I feel like it shouldn't be brain surgery..

Its not brain surgery, clearly power is getting through. like the guy before me said, it could be a bad ballast (yes even morimoto makes bricks every now and again).
If you really cant figure it out, pay the experts man, theres no shame in that. Headlights are important, pay the diagnostic fee at your local HID shop (a cursory google search yields a place called "Vegas HID" which has great reviews on yelp). They might charge you around $40-50 to check it out but they will likely determine your issue, get your headlights back working without issue and move you on down the road.

I had them in my 07 and the wife has them in her 14 Prius. We got them on amazon and had one of the ballasts go out. We emailed them on amazon and they sent me two new ones no questions asked. The set that is in the wifes Prius was from the 07 and they are going on almost 2 years without any issues.
