Hood dead

Hey guys so looks like last night some jerk off decided to take a seat on my hood and dented the bejesus out of it. So now im looking for a new hood thats "titanium silver" for my 2006 limited, i got qouted 500 bucks to get the dent out and refinish is or 1000 for a new hood painted and what not. I was wondering if anyone knew of a website that sold prepainted hoods ready to go i dont care if it has the hood scoop or not, all i could find was primed hoods for 200-300 bucks.

yea, u can get them for around 400, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2006...Q5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_2582wt_1084 but id stick with OEM , u might have fitment problems with with direct replacement brands.

I agree with Chaz. Pattern parts are a nightmare to work with. have the time they are either to big, to small, missing holes to mount them too, etc. I would stick with oem. you could try scrape yards if you are looking for better bargains.

OEM sheet metal parts don't come painted. Only the plastic parts with the exception of the bumpers come painted.

i went to a different shop to have them try to do a paintless repair and they almost got it pretty clean but when the guy tried to straigten the body work i got a paint chip so its goin in monday for some new paint

Today I went to take it in today and on second look they decided it would probably be more around 1000 because i do need a new hood. So now I think Im going to try to buy one online swap all the parts of my old one and then just have a body shop spray it. Does anyone know if the all the parts on the non-scooped hood will fit a scooped hood as I figure if I have to buy a new hood I might as well upgrade to the scooped one, I know i will definatly have to get the grill for the scooped hood but will all the hinges, latches, insulation and what not swap over directly?

IIRC, it should be a direct swap for all the hardware. Only the insulation may be different.

I just did a sport hood on mine, because the paint on my hood was pitted from road debris pretty bad. It was easy as mentioned above the insulation is the only major problem, haven't figured out if I am going to buy the sport one, or modify my old one. I for sure need to get the plastic fasteners either way. here is my link
