Hey Ozark, can you post a pic of your Ham radio. I just bought my runner couple weeks ago trying to figure out were to put everything.
I thought it did, I looked at the Nexus 7 but I went with the Galaxy Tab 2 because it has a Micro SD card slot for additional memory. The Backcountry Navigator maps take a ton of memory; for Colorado I downloaded a map of (North to South) Steamboat to Canon City, and (East to West) the edge of Denver to just past Glenwood Springs, and it took an entire 32GB Micro SD card. It also took 36 hours to download! That is my core wheeling area, and I have another card that i will use to download smaller maps when I'm in Moab, expedition style trips, etc.
It's just a different upgraded topo map layout, I like it a lot better than the recommended default map it comes with. It's a lot easier to read and seems to be more detailed. I figured for the price of the BCN app, I could justify upgrading to the AccuTerra map set. I can post a picture of the map if you guys want, just let me know.
I wouldnt mind a screen shot
Better than a screenshot: Accuterra Preview
I love the shaded land ownership status, and the map itself is much cleaner than the free topos native to BCN. The couple areas I checked seemed to have more detail, too. I'm sold, I'll have this next paycheck. Thanks for the tip, Dirtco!
Now you all have me wanting to get a tablet to run it on, dammit.![]()
So do any of you recommend a comparable navigator app for the iPad? Sorry. Kinda a Mac guy and not usually willing to stray.
Google Maps is a blessing on road trips, and any GPS capable device on Android will navigate without data. If anyone here knows what rooting their phone is, do it then you can tether wifi without paying for it which is pretty cool. Way off topic but here's what I use.
Do you use that to mount a 7-10" tablet? That is what this thread is about ...
If so can you please post a picture mounted and maybe a brand name or link?
Thanks :behindsofa:
A lot of the android tabs have GPS. I have the Asus TF300 and the GPS works well, you can also download maps straight from Google maps. I'm thinking about getting a 7in tab and mounting it straight in the dash.
have you come up with a charging solution for the transformer when your on the road? needs a 15v transformer?
