How do you feel about colored D-Rings and Winch Hooks?

I haven't seen it on here to much every now and then very tastefully I might add, but lately I have been seeing all kind of crazy color combos on Toyota's and Jeeps in my area. I have seen everything from Lime Green, to Orange to Pink, D-rings and Winch Hooks lately. Some people go a bit overboard, but alot of it is done very tastefully in my opinion. What are your views on these colored items? I see alot of people plasti-dipping or spray painting them. I am currently running the just the stock look. I have some extra D-rings and warn winch hook. so I think I am going to paint the D-rings red and winch hook yellow. Would love to see some pics of your guys setups if you got any color :bigok::trophy::AK47:

I like them better colored. The galvanized steel look is just kinda plain. Skid plates too. I like off the wall colored skids.

Why would you waste time making something look pretty when you'll probably loose half the paint on your first recovery? By then it will look worse than it does in its galvanized steel form. This sounds like something someone might do to a mall crawler, I wouldn't waste time painting these bits..

These are the only ones I buy but is not for looks. I've lost too many of the silver ones and the red ones stand out in the dirt/sand so I don't accadently leave one behind after a recovery.

I have a couple white ones, does that count? Painted them because they were yellow when they were given to me.

Why not? People spend good money on pretty wheels, keeping their paint looking good with clear bras, and spending good money on armor and keeping it painted so it looks good. What's the harm in some colored recovery gear?

Nothing as long as is tasteful and doesn't clash with the truck you're wheeling with.

So I bit the bullet and jumped on the cool kids bandwagon lol, :lol::reddance::lookout::eyebrows:used my extra parts laying around that I got with my replacement winch line from Warn



Came out better then I expected I feel like the color combo looks pretty clean. I have seen the red smittybilt Drings and one of the guys in my area has a silver 4th gen with a CBI bumper with a yellow winch hook so I combined the two and I kinda like the look what do you think?

By the way, my paint has always held up great except for the winch hooks because of the metal to metal contact. Straps will hardly ever ruin paint. I did a heavy coat of self etching primer and two coats red and if/when it chips I just respray with the red.

I like the red on red very clean look to it, I was thinking about doing my hook red but I thought the yellow and red would be unique I've seen the red drings and guy in my area has just a yellow hook on his 4runner 4th gen and i like it so i bit off of it

But seriously though, I think it looks fine, not tacky at all, probably because you have a lot of black space to help break up the colors. One thing that kinda mildly sorta bothers me is the orange lens on the turn signal...any chance you can change that out to a clear housing with orange LEDs? It feels like it's just one too many colors up front, lol.

it's much easier to explain to my 6 year niece what those colored shackles are then a set of balls swinging from a hitch...

plus I understand the red ones are good for 10 more HP

your killin' me with the mcdonalds emblem lol:yield:....You know what I bought the truck and it never bothered me until you pointed it out. they are just standard trailer lights from auto zone I could actually make them red or get clear ones with red leds that would look unique. Theres alot of black steel on the car so the color does break it up a bit. I will take another picture in the day this was just a quick snap shot with the iPhone right before I went to dinner with my GF she was yelling at me for posting on IG (instagram) as we were ordering

I have not seen a set of balls hanging from a hitch in a while lol! And I actually thought the red d-rings were good for an extra inch of clearance and 10hp :fish:
