How many watts?

Which inverter did you install and where did you mount it? I want to upgrade mine and haven't checked how much space is where the stock one is.

I'm not quite sure the brand. It's mounted under the drivers seat. Even though it's rated at 1000 watts and supplied with 4 ga wire the most I have been able to coax out of it is a 750w mini coffee pot- and the truck must be running or it blows both fuses.

It handles a toaster no problem- I had bagels while camping!

How many watts do you think a standard size refrigerator dissipates? I was wondering if I could use my SR5 to power my refrigerator during a power outage. I thought maybe I could plug it in for a ½ hour or so a few times a day to prevent losing food.

As an Electrical Engineer, I can tell you this:
An average household refrigerator will pull around 1200w peak. But that peak draw would be when the compressor kicks in (starts). Motors will draw 3 to 4 times their "running current" on start-up (a few milliseconds). Depending on the protective circuit in the Inverter (i.e. sensitivity), you might be able to get away with a start-cycle of the compressor, or not. If this were repeated a few times/day, the inverter circuitry might eventually fade away (die).

You'd probably be better off just getting one of those 12VDC coolers to put the critical stuff in like, milk, eggs, etc. Don't forget the beer :cheers:
