How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

A few of these comments are pretty unrealistic on the 2020 TRD Pro models. Keyboard negotiators claiming 10%-20% MSRP discounts, without anything to back their claims. Hefty discounts on non-Pro 2019 is very possible, but that is due to Toyota offering $2000 customer cash in most regions. Unfortunately, none of the Toyota rebates apply to the Pro models :(. They are pretty tough to negotiate on, unless you’re willing to travel and catch the right dealer at the right time.

Moving on to what I paid for mine. I am traveling to get mine because no dealers, within a 500 mile radius, would negotiate below MSRP. I will include taxes and licensing, which isn’t really relevant, as it will vary with every purchase.

2020 Army Green Pro
MSRP - $52,026.00
Discount - $4,176.00
Price before fees - $47,850.00
Dealer fees - $399.00
Taxes - $1,794.30
Licensing - $314.00
Total OTD - $50,357.30

Deal of the century? Probably not, but a great and realistic deal. True dealer invoice; minus dealer holdback, wholesale financial reserve holdback, and port accessory holdback was $47,391.17. Dealer made a profit of $857.83, including dealer fees. I can live with that deal. Now I just have to contact Gamester5 for another extended warrant.

From where I’m standing, I think you got a great deal. Just looking closer at mine. Your OTD price is what I’m looking at before taxes and fees.

I’m looking at probably $3300 in taxes, $694 in dealer delivery and filing fees, $100 in battery fees for the state, and another $250 in fees for tags.

I mean, I’m looking at $54k, maybe $55k out the door. Even if I got them to take another $1000 off or so, I’m still a few thousand higher than what you paid.

You know what? I just checked the printout again. There’s a $1120 charge on there for manufacturer Delivery, Processing, and Handling. I didn’t factor that in earlier.

So I’m really looking at almost $52k before taxes and fees now, which would put it at like $56k out the door.

I might just get my deposit back and walk. The amount of bullshit money built into the deal is wearing on me.

$1900 for a bullshit dealer package I don’t want.
$1120 for delivery from the factory
$694 in dealer fees

That’s nearly $4000 in nonsense.

$1.8K tax on a $48K truck... Man, I wish that’s how NY charges tax. At nearly 9%... I ended up paying close to MSRP after my tax and fees.

They told me up front that the only reason I was getting this deal was by financing through them. Now, there’s no pre-payment penalty through Toyota financial so I could just go and re-finance it like 30 days later, but I think I’m stuck on initially going through them.

That’s some semi shady stuff there. Your not getting that good a deal to have give them something else. I mean if their rates competitive then who cares, but I would damn sure know what it is first. Worst case buy it, sign, go to your bank or credit union and refinance the next day. They can’t do anything about it and in fact will get their reserve charged back to them. Serves them right for being geedy.

Are you trading anything? If not spend 150.00 a plane ticket and fly to Baltimore and buy at invoice. Road trip it home.

No trade.

Initial estimate was 4.9% if I put $20-25k down (my suggestion at first, but not sure I’m going to go with that).

Excellent credit in the high 700s.

Since it’s a TRDP, it doesn’t qualify for the special rates between .9 and 1.9%

Yeah. 4.9 for 60 mths is 1.5% - 2% to high for what you described above. You could buy at invoice and a lower interest rate if your willing to travel or be patient.

Well, I could also just re-finance the next day as others have suggested and get down 2-3% probably.

I'm willing to travel and be patient, bit that particular build with those options is probably going to be tricky to match.

What state are you purchasing in? Sounds like a SE Toyota dealer.

so, if you go out and finance it through Toyota, im pretty sure Toyota does not have any apr deals on ANY 4runner and they will offer you a rate at about 5%( the dealer most likely will make money from the interest rate). when i was shopping around for my 4runner, most dealers were trying to get me to finance through Toyota, and they would tell me that i would be able to refinance with (in my case) my credit union within 30 days, it would still be considered a "new vehicle purchase". NOT TRUE!! i called my credit union and asked about this and i was told that once the new vehicle was registered, they would consider it used and would not be able to offer a new car rate. ended up getting 2.77 APR on my new 2020SR5P

Sounds like I have to make a few phone calls on that. Still, you'd think they'd be able to beat the 4.9 percent I'd be on from Toyota with some sort of refinance deal.

Shop the rate with one of your credit unions in Florida. The average rate, with a score of 760+, is 3.14% - 3.24%; 60 months up to a LTV of 100%.

The dealer is trying to finance you through Southeast Toyota Financial. It’s a little different than TFS, which is direct from the manufacturer. They get their financing through Southeast Toyota Distributors.

I would really run away from this deal if I were you, unless you absolutely have to have it right now and from a Florida dealer. I’ll pick mine up in the Southeast Region on Thursday and was able to get a decent deal, with the rear sliding cargo deck. I’d be more than happy to share my dealer info and insight, via PM, after I pick it up. You can definitely get a better deal and better interest rate with a little patience and some travel.

I got my 2020 TRD Off Road Premium for 39115.xx out the door with a bumper to bumper Toyoguard warranty for 150000 miles which includes free oil changes as long as I’m in the Southeast Toyota dealer network. It helped me that my nephew is the sales manager at Panama City Toyota.
He talked me into the 4Runner after I told him I was looking at Wranglers. I couldn’t be happier with the 4Runner and I saved 10 grand over a similarly equipped Wrangler to boot.

LOL .... I don't suppose he could become my nephew too> <G> Ah well .... it was worth a try. <G>

Man, I’d love to get that much more off it. Everything I’ve heard up til now is that if you pay sticker for a TRDP, you’re doing pretty well. I Thought the $4k they had taken off was pretty good.

But you’re right; the value package doesn’t really sit well with me. There *might* be $400 worth of value there in an $1900 package.

I just don’t know that I’m going to be that successful at getting anymore off this thing.

If the $4000 discount is manufacturer's rebate, Toyota pays the dealer that amount so it's not really a discount. Tell them to eat the dealer fees and shop the quote on the internet. See if any will match or less.

I don't think it's a rebate. I doubt there's one on these trucks.

Another dealer probably might be able to beat the price, but there's only one truck optioned like this in the region. If I want that specific truck, I think I'm basically out of luck if the dealer doesn't want to play ball.

37 starting from Costco in California. Best price we could find. After I had them put on my wheels, tint my windows, and throw in a back floor mat and the rubber liners in the cab came out to 41 otd
