Major key to success - Silicone Spray Lubricant

Accelerator piece that sits inside the fender which must meet the bottom of the air box was difficult but managed to slip it on after using silicone lubricant.

Take your time removing the electrical tape for the MAF sensor.

Couplers for the throttle body were tough as well. They look like it won't fit but it will. I secured the coupler to the throttle body then attached the intake hose in after spraying lubricant. Then the other coupler then the top of the air box.

Other then that, she roars on full throttle. :cheers::cheers:

Installed today !

Very easy with silicone lube and all the tips from this thread (Thanks everyone). Got all my parts from Camelback Toyota, no problem whatsoever.

I just have one question, have you plug this hole ? I read on the TRD instruction that we have to but I don't have the plug...

Go to the parts store and buy a plug, get some O2 sensor safe silicone, dob some on the plug and insert plug.
Seal the bottom hole where the grommet is as well....you know the one that you can see an opening alongside.....

Also I didn't see anyone say they installed this on a 2016. I assume all of this fits the same?

Should be no issue with 2016. Do yourself a favor and pick up a Sprint booster. These two will change the whole driving experience significantly!

Lol they sent me two box lids and no box bottom. The second lid is for a trd intake on an entirely different vehicle....oh lord

And also the intake pipe has a lot of plastic shavings towards the end and a lot of plastic dust on the inside of the pipe. Neither of those do you want ingested by the motor. Make sure to clean everything first.

I'll be finding our soon. Scheduled to receive the CAI tomorrow and hope to install on my '16 this weekend.

I took my small nipple to the store and ended up purchasing 20" of 1/8" ID hose as it was a perfect fit!
Check your OEM vacuum hose for sizing!

Thanks Saker! Also what diameter split wire loom did you get? And how much did you need? Amazon wants to sell me 100 feet haha. I haven't pulled everything apart yet but wanted to make sure I had all necessary parts before I start.

I already had some, so I used what I had....I think it was either 3/8" or 5/16".
You should be able to purchase it from AutoZone, O'Reilly, NAPA and even Harbor Freight if you have one of those nearby.
20-24" should be plenty.

Completed the install on the 2016.

Installation notes:

1) the wiring harness had a ton of factory tape - took the better part of an hour to remove and re-tape.

2) I couldn't find the hole for the zip-tie "tree-mount" for the vacuum hose, so I just zip-tied the vacuum hose to the vent hose (loosely).

3) the "air flow accelerator" fits loosely in the the fender hole making it difficult to connect the lower air-box. There's also very little room to see if the connection is good. Stick a hand through the air-box hole, grab the air flow accelerator, and push/pull to get them to connect.

4) connecting the intake tube to both the air-box and the throttle-body is a bit of a wrestling match. Silicone spray is your friend.

5) after completing the install and starting the engine, the engine immediately shut off. A second attempt (and since) worked fine.

I'm debating on buying the intake this week and looking for the best approach to get EVERYTHING I need.

I've seen several posts saying they are giving all the part numbers for everything you need, so that further confused me as the lists tend to differ.

It will not come with an oiled TRD Air Filter. Your stock air filter fits without issue. (Personally, I preferred not to run an oiled filter. YMMV)
It will not come with 15" of wire loom....cheap at auto parts store!
It will not come with 20" of 5/32 or 1/8" vacuum hose, also cheap at auto parts store!
It will not come with zip ties...IIRC, also cheap at auto parts store!
As described in this thread, a little O2 safe Silicone, and a small plug to seal a hole on the side of the air box and to seal a hole next to a mounting grommet on bottom of air box.
Silicone spray to facilitate inserting the tube into the couplers and you have just saved yourself $150.00
