Huskey's Build

I have the XRAES as well, good to see it can be modified - your rig looks FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Matching Husky tops it off ; )

Here's there write up on what all went wrong... Seems harmless in the begining but gets worse once I spoke to the insurance company.

thats crazy they won't let you file a collision claim on it It can't be that much to cover a new ECU if that is the problem. seems weird though for sure theres not much electrical on that side of the vehicle and it doesn't seem deep enough to cause major issue's like that. like you said it worked fine until you cleaned it then eventually quite starting. thats one of those ghost problems you can never figure out.

so you gonna build the new pickup and wheel it or are your wheeling days over to?

Im moving up to North Canada for work, so I'll end up buying a couple of snowmobiles or quads or something, and just put a mild lift in the pickup, with a winch, on 33's and what not, but nothing like what this 4runner could get through. My wheeling day will never be over for good but just for now, until I start my new job at least.

I hear ya, well best of luck with your endeavors! (it would be cool to live in a place you could have a sled dog team of husky's! lol)

thanks for all the info on the thread I've used a lot of it in my build plans and considerations

Sorry to hear that Huskey! I've really enjoyed your progress on the truck and pictures of your 'dog walks'....

Best of luck with your new ride and future endeavors!

edit - wish I was close enough to pick up that bumper!

I'm late to the party and I was surprised with what happened to your rig man.

Wow..that's just sad, to add to that, never even got the chance to wheel together. Good luck Huskey!

So just so I understand this......the insurance company deemed that awesome 4runner a total loss over electrical issues and crushed the 4runner?

Say it isn't so!!!!

Here's a few more pics, mainly the radio install with a few other pics of whatever I thought worthy of this thread:

Here's the two holes I made throught the fire wall for all my wires. The unused hole on the right was done as it was an easier angle to get the drill at it however there is a steel plate behind it (unseen from inside the cabin) for part of the parking brake support. Anyhow, the hole I used was made with many small holes, pliers and a file - its not pretty but it works.

This was basically the only place left to install the speaker for talking to the dog.

Below the speaker is where the compressor sits for the rear diff locker

Here's where the radio sits, had no choice as the antenna cable just barely made it to here. The switch to the left of the fuse box opening is for the KC, the switch hidden behind the Uniden cable is for the compressor and the the horisontal switch is for the rear locker.

Almost forgot, got me some beauty floor liners!

Here's the antenna mount, cable goes down the frame, and up through my uber messy firewall hole!

Here's my attemp to tidy up the wireing under the hood, actually it made a huge difference to install a secondary fuse box - and yes, i left enough space to get into the existing fuse box!

Here's my temp hilift mount!

Things to come are my rear CBI bumper, and SW roofrack - who knows when!

you should watch out with the cb. had it mounted in the same location, got in an accident and it took my knee and knee cap OUT. just my 2 cents.

Help

Hey man I know this was a few years ago but is there any way you could talk to me about how you did the front diff drop brackets. You can text me so it’s easier 904-673-1873

9 years is way more than a few years....also the person you're asking to sent you a text hasn't been on the forum for over 8 years, he's not even going to see your post, so I'm sure a text is out of the question!
