I know its the happy-o-meter but damn!

So after i got off work tonight I drove to the Kroger gas station to fill up the 4Runner, range was at 2 miles lol. well $60.61 later were back at full and i decided to reset the happy meter and see my average for the drive home, which today was 16.5 miles. drove about 3 of those miles in the city about 35 stop and go. averaged 55-65 on the highway, slight rolling hills on I-85 south. pulled in the driveway and checked the average.....31.3MPG...now i know its the happy meter, but wow! even given it being known to read 1-2mpg high, thats still 29mpg...kind of dumb but nonetheless it excited me and i thought i'd share!

i never am lol. i've been averaging around 19-20 in a mix, mostly city, or traffic highway....its Atlanta. last tank i got 15.8 on this last tank which i installed my intake on and romped on it the whole tank. multiple runs to triple digits, 10 mile drive at 95-105....basically just enjoying the noise and so forth haha. for the record before i did a bunch of maintenance i averaged about 17 mostly highway. that i wasnt happy with

Ha yea I've reset mine on the highway before running about 75ish a dig jumps to somethin around 34 mpg... Then quickly drops back down to the 16-18 range... I'm ready for some summer time fuel mixes to start showing up.

I don't know about you, but my happy-o-meter is the tachometer... maybe that's why I blow headgaskets all the time... :spy:

Ha yea I've reset mine on the highway before running about 75ish a dig jumps to somethin around 34 mpg... Then quickly drops back down to the 16-18 range... I'm ready for some summer time fuel mixes to start showing up.

ouch 16-18? you have the V8? my black 07 would start high then jump down like that to about 19-20, but this one has been staying in the mid 20's. like this morning i drove downtown to school in crappy traffic and its still at 27.XMPG. if i do a nice relaxed mix, it hovers around 22-24MPG on that meter. about 20-21 calculated average. which isnt bad really.

I've actually achieved 30mpg on a single tank of gas when we were taking a trip and elected to take uncrowded 4-lane highways away from the interstate one day. It was an experiment where I turned the cruise control off and kept the speed between 55 and 65. Speed was 55 on flat, up to 65 at bottom of long downhill, and back down to 55 (sometimes 52) while climbing the other side of the hill while trying not to add more gas. Wife loved it as she prefers the slower going, but it drove me nuts. Our 4Runner starts to suck gas big time when the speed is maintained over 68mph, but with proper throttle control one can get 22mpg at 68mph.

i dont doubt that. when driven nicely the V6 can return some rather impressive numbers...i actually got an average of 20.1 doing 80MPH no cruise, very hilly coming I-85 north around Newnan, GA on the way back from a trip to texas. that i was impressed with. i had given up on MPG at that point and it was the best tank we had the whole trip...who knows why
