I officially hate HID's

I just had the worst drive home from work. I was dead tired and somewhat dehydrated (thanks to the grocery industry), so I already didn't want to drive. After my wreck a few days ago, I get nervous about driving. It was a 20 mile drive. About half way there, I get on a narrow 2 lane road. Similar to the one I had just wrecked on. A truck pulls in behind me. VERY BRIGHT purple HIDs. Almost looked like black lights. Except WAAAAY brighter. They were so bright they turned my interior purple, along with everything in my path. My eyes are killing me as I look at the reflection of street signs. I put my mirrors down and slouch down so I don't see them through the back window. I drove like that for 15 miles. Then I turned at an intersection and prayed he didn't turn my way. I moved my mirror back to see him. And I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a 4Runner. A 3rd gen 4Runner. I really feel like we 3rd gen owners would be better than this. Haha. Maybe it's just the T4R guys who aren't blinding guys like me with their properly aimed HIDs.

When guys with lights like that get behind me, I slow down to about 10mph and wait. They'll go around soon enough, and if they're dicks about it they can eat high beam while they speed away.

When installed in reflective housings like ours, HIDS will have crappy glare no matter how well you aim then. They can be done right, but projectors are needed.

Also, the higher temp purple bulbs have significantly lower output compared to 4000k to 6000k temps, so the brightness you saw was probably due to the ridiculous glare.

Whenever I see someone driving towards me with HIDS in reflective housings I turn my brights on and leave them on until they pass (unless me doing that affects other drivers)

im glad im not the only one who does this... i do it cause i figure 80% of the time they didnt buy a good kit or install in properly, so they have no high beams to fight back with lol, and when they do, well... i have 370W of PIAA/IPF to throw at them in amber light
It was probably GottaBeTRD. That dude's a dick.

That's what I do too. I let them pass and give them a generous dosage of high beams. And so, Freak said, "Let there be light.."

I got HIDs in stock housing, but i aim them way way way down, just because i know how it feel to be driving in front of one of those cars. if i was you i woulda stopped dead in the road and wait for him to drive around, no way in hell i will drive 15 miles like that.

Whenever people flash me after I flash them, then I turn the sun on and they either get the message or go off the road.

When I get someone like that behind me, I take advantage of the power mirror adjustment for a little "backatcha" action.

Just move the side mirrors until you can see their truck light up in the center rear view mirror.*. If they have a front plate, target that then move it up a touch. If the lights are too bright to see, just slouch down to block the headlights. It takes a little practice, but you can get good enough to do it in like 15 seconds. When you get it right, you can see their whole interior light up, and like half the time they swerve a little. People tend to back off when you do it. I am just waiting for the day someone has the juevos to complain to me about their own lights shining in their face.

*don't kill yourself doing this.

I only hate HID's in headlights without projectors.

that is what C5 landing lights are for. some idiot comes around with that blinding sh*t on, turn that C5 light on and that will stop them dead in their tracks! that light is seen from miles away so you know that f***** is bright!

This^^

No need to break the laws in order to fight an idiot.
You may one day find that you are the one getting in trouble for it.

I find it better to fight somebodies dickishness with their own dickishness.
If they say anything, just apologize that their own lights were bothering them. Then explain to them that if the reflection is that bad then imagine what it is like to the people they are aimed at.
