We can't help you unless you let us know what Year and Model of 4Runner you have in your signature line - If it's the 2017 model theres no FAQ to help yet and you might be stuck in your driveway until 2018!:lock1:

No lie... I actually had to help one of my mother-in-laws friends the other day on this issue. She couldn't get her car to start with the start button. She had the issue previously about a year ago and bought a new fob. Turns out (if you read the manual... Which she did not)... that the likely culprit is a dead fob battery which is exactly what I suspected. Th interesting thing is that the manual details a bypass for a dead fob battery. If you touch the fob to the start button push the button with it... The car will start. I'm guessing it has some kind of RFID in the fob that enables the start button to work. Anyway it worked! I told her to replace the battery in her fob to fix the issue going forward. She thanked me over and over... And looked at me like I was some kind of wizard.

Moral of the story... Always ask chicks, metrosexual men and young drivers, "Have you read the manual for your car?"

I have taken lots of calls from the opposite sex (sorry if that word is off limits now) asking me why they cant turn the Key in the ignition. Every time Ive said jiggle the steering wheel while your turning the key and the ignition lock will release.

My ex girlfriend bought an FJ Cruiser and before she ever took delivery on it, I had read the entire owners manual. Right after she bought it she asked me a simple question that was answered in the manual...so I bought her this shirt;

Wife - babe, its really snowing badly down here, should i use the 4WD?
Me - yeah, sure, it will help.

Wife - how do i turn it on?
Me - see that knob by the gear shifter, turn it to H4.

Wife - then what do i do?

In my Land Rovers my wife never did get it -> two way stick for HI/LO Range and lock/unlock - - -

In the 4Runner I took her out for a lesson first week -> After an hour she sorta' got it but said, "when it snows you drive."

We had a surprise snowstorm in Chattanooga a few years back, so of course the schools waited until the roads were well covered before releasing the students. I had lived in the midwest for a decade and can drive in winter weather. But of course I was downtown in my wife's 2WD (along with a few hundred thousand of my closest friends, none of whom can drive in snow) while she was home in the 4Runner. I asked her to go get the kids, and gave detailed instructions on how to put it in 4WD (pull the second lever backwards and drive). Apparently she failed at figuring out the 4WD process and proceeded in 2WD. She spun out driving up the hill near our house, freaked out, and returned home. Fortunately, every other parent was also stuck in traffic, so there was no real rush on getting to the school.

It took me 5.5 hours to drive the 14 miles home.
