look up the planetary gear failure.

mines had that catastrophe failure during a hill climb in Oregon, lost all power in all gears including reverse.

good time for the IPT transmission upgrade, torque convertor, and valve body upgrade .....prep it for the super charger dude....

buy once cry once....here the unit i went with

A340E, A340F, A340E, A341E, A340E and 30-40LE Performance Transmission

i solid setup with argon gas would run at least $2,200 used...

what would we be welding on a regular basis? and what kind of videos could we make if we had one?.....

You can get into a good Miller 215 for less than $1400. That doesn't include the bottles....but, it does give you mig, tig and stick capability (though the tig kit costs another $450).

If you just want mig.....the 211 is a good machine for the money (though I wish it had larger spool capacity like the old 211....but, it's much more portable and you can run it on 110V or 220V.

Autoset on both of these machines is phenomenal (at least for mig....haven't tried tig). I was very surprised how good it actually works. You may have to speed up your travel a bit to keep up with it, but it works really, really well.

If it was a more straight forward process I.e. Plug n' play then I would def go that route or If someone did an awesome write up I'd be interested in attempting that option. There's so many electrical connections to everything i'm curious what you would do.. just leave them unplugged if you were to do a manual swap? I just don't have enough knowledge in the manny swap department

I have successfully maxed out my credit cards and picked up a transmission from San Bruno Toyota so now I finally have something to put back into my truck...

Hopefully everything falls into place & I'll be back on the road for my birthday on the 5th of March.

As far as I know there aren't any "new" A340F transmissions that you can buy?...


But this is a remman'd from Melody Toyota, which is interestingly enough the same dealership I got my first 4runner from when I was 16!

It's crazy how things go full circle.

That's me! I work at the theater so half the time I park in the manager spot in the back. I used to be the old little red BMW that parked underground. It'd be a sweet birthday present to get your runner back on the road. I'll be sure to park next to you once your up and rolling again
