Installed Icon's and FZJ80 coils...

Yeah that's the only reason I want to keep the LC coils. I loved my last set because of the amount of articulation the rear end had. I am scared that the 890's will be all rough feeling...

Yes, I do have the cone bump stops still in there... hmmm...
I have heard that the coil can shift and clunk without the cone.
Raise the front!
I guess I have more weight in my rig. I'm running the 9.25 wrap LCs. I like the height at my daily load. They squat too much with the weekend camping/wheeling load. I'm sitting at 37.5" in the front and 38.75" in back (wheel well to ground, 265/75-16) and 22.75" in the front and 24" in back (center of hub to wheel well)

I had 890s (190# spring rate) and they rode nice, not much firmer than the LCs now. They didn't give me enough lift. Then I went to 891s (210#). They handle the weight better and I gained a little height. Still too low. I'm now on the factory LCs (160#), flex great. Next I'm going to the 861s (220#) I think. I need the height to get over the big steps and ledges. I also need the weight capacity.

(factory 4runner rear coils are 150#)

I wrapped the top coil with heat shrink and you can't hear a thing. If the LC's shift, the 890 and cone will fall out. Depending on what length shock you've got.

Hey Gerdo,

Thanks for those numbers, I didn't really know where they all sat relative to each other. Its funny because I was trying to figure out making a jig to test the spring rate (Of course I am way too lazy to actually do it,but it was crossing my mind). I didn't know the spring rates were actually known for the FZJ80 and stock coils.

I am going to keep the front end down low still. I've said this a lot lately, but after being on 35's for 4+ years I am soooooooo happy to just have a low rig. I did a pretty hard trail a few weeks ago with my current truck on bone stock suspension. I am fairly certain it did better than my last truck, because it wasn't battling the high COG. Obviously I nailed the crap out of my rear bumper and skid plate, but thats to be expected. ;)

My plan is to run this 2" front, and hopefully a 3" rear with 285's (in the future) with nothing but fender trimming.

Also I sort of am aiming this truck to be more of a desert runner than a crawler like my last one. I tend to do about 50/50 of desert running and my idea of "crawling". Thus the I chose to spend the $$ on the Icons...

i took my cone spacers out and am very satisfied with my ride height . . . had mine for about 2.5 years now.

What measurements do you have on the front? Hub center to wheel well lip?

FYI. I have the sport flares and the rear is almost flush with the steel fender but the front is ~3/8" lower than the steel fender.

ive had my 890's a little over 2 years and carry about an extra 100 lbs in back besides a full size 285 all terrain spare. sits pretty much level.
actually i just measured and it sits exactly 24" from center of hub to top of wheel well arch. the rear rides nice, but nowhere as nice as the front end.
