Interesting Observation - Amplifier and Clarion DUZ385SAT

So I was installing my amplifier for the infinity components I just installed in the front doors. Everything has been proceeding smoothly thanks to this forum.

I am curious however - When my 4runner is in key position 1 - the radio comes on and the and amp comes on and music plays etc.

In position 2 - the radio comes on but the amp does not power on till the car is actually started? Since my amplifier signal is directly off the radio and not off the wiring loom it seems odd that somehow the radio is not turning the amp on until the car is started right?

Also I am having a devil of a time figuring out how to ground this amp properly...not sure if this amp or the components are ultra sensitive but I have tried under the seat bolt withonly limited success, currently i am using the metal bracket for the center console but I am planning on modifying this one and going a little deeper.

I use a bolt under the center console for my amp and it seems perfectly fine. Maybe a stupid question, but are you sanding down the mating metal surfaces on the cable and the chassis-side? You can also use some conductive grease or silicone grease to prevent corrosion on the freshly cleaned surfaces.

I believe so, but perhaps not it is on top of the raw metal bracket that holds the cup holder console. You think that is the issue?
