iPhone 4 dock

To get back to the iPhone dock question...I have a good solution that is not permanent. I got a regular roll of electrical tape which fits perfectly in that cup holder near the 4x4 shifter. I then glued that plastic disc (for suction mounts) to the top - fits snug in the removable cup holder AND comes out as well easily. You can then mount via suction cup any iPhone mount. I actually use this set up for my garmin - looks great there...out of the way.

Here is another way to mount the iphone - picture below is the Garmin, but the main thing is to get a plastic disc with adhesive on the back and place it against the corner of that inside compartment (see in picture). Works great and you can even get a USB converter to plug into the 12v and run the wires behind to your iphone.

I followed your video to get the iPhone 4 set up for BT Audio and calls with no problem. Thanks for that! Just a quick question. We noticed when we were streaming audio via BT, that pressing the TEXT button doesn't get us Artist Info, song info, etc. It just shows 'Streaming Audio'. Have you found the same is true in your wife's vehicle with the iPHone?

^^ when streaming from my iphone4, It would only show "Streaming Audio" as well. I don't think it will show artist info from the iphone unless you hook it up via USB.

My understanding is that iOS doesn't currently send the id3 tag info across the Bluetooth connection, so the head unit has no way of knowing the artist and track. Supposedly the next release will have this ability but I don't know if the 4Runner has the capability to receive the info. We'll have to wait and see. I have my doubts that it will work, though.

Sorry for incorrectly assuming the Runner was your wife's. Didn't pay close enough attention to that detail. :wink2:
