Btw, a lot of it is responding to misinformation and providing technical or factual info. And yes, since this is an iPhone 5 thread, there will be info provided to contrast the competition...and if that info favors iPhone 5, then so be it.

I'm just having a little lighthearted trolling over here to take some of the seriousness out of 34 pages of iPhone 5 facts. And clearly this isn't just a thread about iPhone if he's let it rage on for almost three dozen pages talking about why it's better than "x" phone. I'd say then it's not "just about iPhone."

I have an iPhone, my next phone will be an iPhone. But I can also take a joke and I figured "off topic" was the place for that.

I do agree with you on the "who gives a god damn" part also, but perhaps I'm taking that out of context.

I hope my posting is less annoying than the previous 33 pages of iPhone raging.

ncdcent, i stepped down as Admin several years ago when my first born came out. At that time, we did not have fancy anti-spam software...so, the Admins and Mods did most of the moderating. It was hard work! When my first born came out, i stepped down because it took too much of my time.

I did not let it rage on...it rage on by itself in a heated thread. Koz and myself was openly arguing...thus, it ate pages of it. Unfortunately, Koz would post blatant lies...and i had to respond. But, you must be blind to see that this thread did not contain actual facts and technical stuff. Whether you want to know all that is up to you...no one is forcing it down your throat. This thread is not even in a major section of the forum.

So, i have no idea why your panties got twisted. If you don't like it, then move on...don't read this thread. dpreview just finished a review of the iPhone 5 camera. As many camera enthusiasts know, dpreview (and cameralabs) is top-notch and very authoritative when it comes to camera reviews.

Advice for the purple flare:

"All lenses are succeptable to lens flare to some degree, and as you can see from the images at the top of this page, the iPhone 4S isn't immune either (ditto the iPhone 4 and competitive smartphones from other manufacturers).

Really, our advice is not to worry. Just do what you should do anyway, and avoid putting bright lights near the edge of the frame when shooting. "

There is nothing to fix. It is probably a compromise. iPhone 5 camera supposedly gives a more accurate picture (color saturation, blue sky definition, etc.)...so, maybe the coating on the lens may be different than 4S. The negative is that it causes this purple flare on direct sunlight. It is generally accepted that taking a picture facing the sun or bright object is a BAD idea, regardless of what camera you have. Flare happens to some degree on all cameras.

Everywhere not directly in front of the sun, the iPhone 5 is tops currently. The only camera that can beat iPhone 5 camera is Nokia's PureView...but the iPhone 5 video is better than Pureview.

BTW, synthetic sapphire does NOT have coloration, as suggested by some sources as the problem behind this flare.

Your "expertise" on iPhones (on this thread) is indisputable for me. Anyway, I did do some digging around and this "purple" flare isn't a big deal (as you stated before). I expect to get one in the next couple of months (with a grandfathered unlimited data plan ). Or according to KOZ and others, drinking more Cool Aid.................
