IPhone Users: OBD2 app with Transmission temps.

I’m making this cause it was super annoying going through several different threads to get this to work. FYI you DO NOT need to buy a Toyota expansion from OBD Fusion to make this work.

This App: OBD Fusion by OCTech, LLC OBD Fusion on the App Store

It’s $9.99 but after trying DashCommand and others This appears to have the best interface.

Now. To get Transmission temp to read you need to do some trickery. THIS ONLY WORKS ON 1999 AND NEWER.

To connect to iPhone and NOT affect cell data do this...

As for using your OBD reader and sill have access to a network you will have to set up the OBD tool as a manual connection.


For FOSEAL it is...


Configure IP: Manual

Ip Address: 192.168.0.11

Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Rouder: 192.168.0.10



Once app is installed and you have gone through the instructions to connect to your OBD2 wireless reader you will see this screen.

Then click on Settings.

Then click on User Defined PIDs and press “New”

Enter the data from the pic below. Make SURE the formula is exact. You will have to then connect to your vehicle and confirm that it can read it. NOTE- change from ECM to ALL seems to fix the transmission reading.

Once it confirms you can play with the Dash however you feel.

I had the same thought, but......

If it is, it is upside down and backwards. You use 9/5 to go from F to C. But then you subtract 32 First, not 38 after. To go from C to F, you use 5/9, then ADD 32. So, it looks similar, but I can't imagine how it fits together.

The coolant, air intake and trans temp should all match at cold start after the truck as been off for >12 hours or so. That would be the easiest way to make sure the equation is correct.

"A" should be the data pulled from the ECU (Japanese ECU = everything in SI units, *C in this case)

Apparently all temp sensors report zero at -40 (f or C--same temp) and the -38 should be -40. Now it starts to make sense.

If you look close it looks like you have a space after your A*, in the OP there is no space.

I have a 2000 and it’s been working for me. go through all your settings and make sure everything is correct. and JIC, only works when the engine is running.[emoji1744]*[emoji3603]

Seems to be a slightly smaller profile which is nice.

iphone 8 worked on 12.1.2 and it still works on 12.1.3
