IPhone Users: OBD2 app with Transmission temps.

Yeah mine's either/or. Either I'm in Network A and it works or I'm in Generic and it doesn't. It doesn't cross over for some reason. Maybe because I'm using an iPhone? What device are you running it on?

It's working on my iPhone X and iPad Pro. That's interesting that it's not working on your iPhone under the Generic connection.

Yeah I gotta use Network A to get it working.
[MENTION=122900]AZBub[/MENTION] the only downside I’ve run into thus far has been that since my WiFi is connected , I can’t use other internet apps because it’s attempting to capture internet data via the OBD adapter.

Looks like you can bypass this using the WiFi Assist feature but that’s gonna use some data

So , after trying over and over , I went ahead and bought the Toyota/Scion pack through the app. Kinda stupid that it’s extra but I really wanted to get this working.

After buying the pack , it scans the PID’s and finds everything.

Im having the same no data issue. Think the Toyota pack is worth buying in my case? I have the bluetooth carista scanner and fusion already.

I'm tempted to buy an OBDII reader with bluetooth to see if it works the same.

Connecting to WiFi just messes up the phones internet/data because it's confused.

Are you capturing regular out of box metrics with your adapter ? if so, which one are you using ? link plz

Heres the adapter Im running. Carista OBD2 adapter | 1-month free trial of the Pro app - Carista
Adapter comes with its own app that lets you customize settings like rolling down windows remotely, disable lights and beeps and things. Works well on my 2015 sr5.

Using OBD Fusion on my iphone X I believe Im getting all the same standard PIDs and sensor readings. Through fusion you can set bluetooth to auto-connect feature instead of manual connecting each time which I believe is required for the wifi adapters. I havent tested it yet though.

I just bought the toyota pack so I will test it and report back shortly. Been looking for Trans Temp and TPMS info for a while.

Alright, totally strange. I logged into Network A this morning while out on a short drive and ALL of the gauges were working. IDK if the program updated and fixed a bug or what but the only thing that would work in Network A was the AT Temp.

Using Carista Bluetooth adapter AT temp seems to be working well. I have it configured to auto connect to "Generic OBD2" network and its working fine with multiple Network A readings.

I dont believe the carista adapter is any good for TPMS readings though. Not sure the trucks even report actual pressures or if they are just triggered when the psi falls below a certain threshold.

Good deal! So mine this morning wouldn't read the AT temp until I logged into Network A and then back to Generic. I actually think, at this point, that the software is buggy as hell.

I didn't have to log into generic when it worked. I've been using this app for at least 6 months and its the first time it worked liked this. Hopefully it sticks lol

I can't seem to find the Network A anywhere in the app. I'm guessing that it is part of the extended diagnostics that you need to pay extra for.

I'm use the Veepeak Bluetooth LE OBD2 Reader that OBDFusion recommended from their website.

All the stock data seems to work fine.

If I ever get time, I'll try reading the trans temp PID with my laptop.

Nope, no need to enter the formula, the AT Temp is already configured.

That's correct. IMO,It should have been included with the cost of the APP. Or at least advised that it would require additional money to unlock the extended diagnostics. If it did say it up front, I missed it

Or, you could get a Scangauge II and it'll just be there and working every time you get in the truck... no bluetooth, wifi or other problems - and your phone will be available for calls, music, GPS, etc. :madgrin:

I was getting temps of ~154 F or so on the freeway, and ~192 going up a hill. This is in 32 F weather.

I figured this out with the help of Matt @ OCTech and the user-defined PID docs from OCTech, the authors of OBDFusion.

Now to put some details on the dial guage, like cold and hot.

Any thoughts on what is too hot for the transmission in our rigs?

Sooo, the sensor in our rigs is in a spot that apparently reads the hottest fluid. Not the pan. Seeing your transmission spike into the 210-220 is normal(depending on what you’re doing). I see a spike when i get off the freeway and come to a stop, the temp spikes then quickly drops. If it’s running consistently up there you have problems.

On a side note I installed the B&M 70268 and observed a 30 degree difference on my commute to work (1 hour at 70-75 mph)

Thanks to the OP and everyone in this thread. I literally just got my Veepeak OBDCheck BLE OBD2 Bluetooth Scanner in the mail from Amazon and already have the OBD Fusion app. Looking forward to trying it out tomorrow. I will probably purchase the Toyota upgrade.

UPDATE:



So interesting thing. As the OP the way I posted has always worked. Untill I had to disconnect my main bettery for some electrical work. Then for some silly reason it wouldnt read the trans temp anymore. Not to mention having one heck of a time getting my iphone to see the Foseal unit under a manal connection again.



SOO you do NOT need to buy the $9.99 expansion to get this to work. See OP to see changes.



I found out afetr OBD Fusions latest update they screwed with manual PIDs and it wont work anymore. One simple fix did the trick that was mentioned earlier.



As for using your OBD reader and sill have access to a network you will have to set up the OBD tool as a manual connection.



For FOSEAL it is...



Configure IP: Manual

Ip Address: 192.168.0.11

Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Rouder: 192.168.0.10



In OBD fusion they say nothing of filling out the router but its necessary.



Once you get the OBD wifi set up go in to OBD fusion and then this...

Settings

Preferences

Communications

Wi-Fi settings ->Custom

IP:192.168.0.10

Port: 35000

Fast polling:On

Go back to main menu and connect. (May take a couple of times) Its a PITA.
