Is it broken?

The interior rear view mirror in the T4R Ltd 2011 has automatic day/ night function.

At the bottom of the mirror is the following lay out-
Green light that indicates that the automatic power function of the mirror is on/off, the on-off switch for the mirror, and another little square like the first green light indicator.

My question is- the 'another little square' never lights up- is it supposed to? Or is it just a sensor (I know that there is a sensor at the back of the mirror)? What do others see in their T4Rs?

its a sensor that senses the headlights of the cars behind you and adjusts the dimness of the rear view mirror accordingly

the mirror uses both sensors. It determines the mirror's adjustment by the difference between the front brightness and the rear brightness. You can test this by covering the front sensor and shining a light into the sensor next to the button.

Nashman and Elias- so what you guys are saying is that -the sensor in the front is not suppossed to light up like the indicator and that it is not really broken or anything?

Correct. The little box on the right is the sensor.

When it dims cover that box and the mirror will UN dim.

Ryan- perfect- thank you so much - that clears up the doubt that I have had in my mind since we bought the T4R!

The front determines if it's dark outside, and the rear determines if it needs to dim.

At night, I'll cover the rear sensor momentarily to check if the car behind is a police car.
