Is this a good deal on a 2013 trail?

I found a 2013 trail. Shoreline blue which I love. It has Nav, moon roof, oem remote start and kdss. I do not plan to lift this so kdss is something I wanted.
It has 52k miles. Brand new wrangler rs-a tires, which I will keep until next year. No dents or dings, wheels are in great shape.
I can get it for $29.9k and they are giving me $15k for my 08 urban runner w/90k miles.
This seems like a good deal and I really like the shoreline blue. Any thoughts on this pricing?

To me, 52K is a lot of miles. I drive ~10K a year. So that's five years of driving.

IMO, an extra grand or two a year is worth it to get in a new one, when in 5 years, I'd have a car with the same mileage as the one you're looking at now.
 
A new trail is going to cost me 10k more. It did have the 30k service done and has records of all oil changes. 50 k miles is not a lot for a 4Runner
 
This is what they were going for when I was looking. I got 16k for my 82k 4th gen., so 15 is great. If you are like me, you like how the early Trails look more than the refreshed ones. Even tho the new ones have definitely grown on me, I still like mine better. I love that Shoreline too. Someone scooped one up at my dealership before I could make up my mind, and I ended up driving 3 hours to get mine.
 
You can get a new Sr5 base for a few grand more than that. But it depends what you want/ what you're going to be using it for. I suppose it's a decent deal since it looks like you are getting a fully loaded Trail. But the idea of getting a brand new SR5 for not that much more money sounds like the better way to go. At the end of the day you're getting something that has over 50k miles which I know isn't that much, but it's not exactly low either for something of that age....

I don't think it'll cost you ten grand more. Maybe eight. My TEP w. KDSS was ten more, OTD.

But, ultimately that's your call.

To me, that eight - ten grand is worth not having the 50k miles. Regardless of how long they do last, 50k is 50k, and depending on driving habits, that is years of life.

Hell, I'd happily sell you mine for 30k when I hit fifty thousand miles. Msg me in 2020.

Lol.. I put on like 20k miles a year. Not everyone lives in their moms basement and doesn't have to leave.
 
Bought my 11' with 54 & jeez that's nothing ! What are you talking about ? Do it , unless your urban is V8 ? Then you might miss THAT !

Outside of the fact that my entire response was based on my personal driving habits, you do realize the average is about 12K a year right?

Not to mention, I can afford to live within 3 miles of where I work, and happen to have two cars in my family...sweet jab though. :rolleyes:

OP, it all depends on what you are comfortable paying for this vehicle. It sounds like $29k (pre tax and dealer fees) is a price that you are willing to pay.

For a frame of reference, I paid about $29k total for a 2011 4runner trail with ~ 32k miles. No KDSS, no remote start, no Nav (none of which I wanted). So we can't really say this is an apples to apples comparison. The options on this vehicle will definitely add little bit of a premium.

According to KBB, $29k is actually below the fair market range:

Take that with a grain of salt though, since dealers, and buyers, rarely use KBB as anything other than a starting point.

IMO, $29k (pre tax and dealer fees) is nothing too outrageous for an asking price. If the dealer is asking $29k for the 4runner, it probably means that they bought it for somewhere around $23k-$25k. I would say you could probably negotiate about $400-$1000 off their asking price before they totally shut the door on you. Just make sure you establish what the extra dealer fees are up front, so they don't try to steal back any $ you save through negotiating down the price.

Also, are they offering any kind of extended warranty? Keep in mind, the bumper-to-bumper warranty has already expired (AC, electronics, interior/exterior faults). The only thing you have left the is the 5yr/100k powertrain warranty (plus whatever the dealer offers with the purchase).

Basement jokes aside....

I choose to move closer to my work and do about 6500-8000miles a year driving, more than half of which are recreational miles

If there are 250 work days in a year and you spend 1hour driving each way to work you are spending almost 21 days a year or 30,000 minutes this is just driving to work!

I have a 10min city drive of about 7miles so i spend 3.5 days driving to work a year thats a HUGE difference, and my 4runner will have 37k miles after 5 years while yours is at 100,000miles
 
LOL 52k miles is not a lot. Pull the trigger dude I love the shoreline blue too. From what's been said it sounds like you're getting a decent deal.

Agreed, definitely a decent deal given the market. I love that color and wish they had continued it on to the 14+ 4Runners as well.
 
Purchased my used 14 TEP, KDSS, remote start, cargo tray with 24k miles for a couple grand more. There are deals to be had, but this deal, not so much.
 
52k miles isn't bad, but for $29k? Ehh, I'd rather spend a few gr more and get a brand new truck. That's the downside to the resale value on these things, it's great if you're the seller, not so much if you're the buyer.
 
All said & done mine was 28.5 out the door & it has none of that 13' ! Tell all in that price tax & all the other bs YES !!
