It's over. I'm done. Worst possible thing has happened.

Soooo i don't think the bug bomb would be a good idea for your electronics. I've always heard that when you set one off in the house you should remove as many electronics as possible or cover them up pretty good.

Ohh and thanks for the vids i am completely freaked out!!!!!

Contact an exterminator and seek advise.

I hate black widows! Once in AZ I had an infestation of crickets and black widows. I went outside at night to nuke the black widows around the house. I shot down over 36 of the bastards before I ran out of spray! It still bothers me everytime I see one.

The spider is easy to kill, however, if there are egg sacks it presents another problem; thus seek an exterminator for advise.

Crickets don't bother me too much; just hundreds of them! (They attract spiders!)

I know how you feel.

I'm always fighting back the Brown Widow's all the time. Very rarely have I seen black widows anymore as they've been pushed back into the woods by their cousins.

Catch a few recluses here and there. Thankfully the Brown widows are not as agressive as the black widows. Usually the brown widow's retreat as the black widows are all like come at me bro

Manning up, for me, happened as soon as I donned the welding gloves and grabbed the flashlight and went poking around in search for the spider, clearing out it's webs. What more do you want from me?

The Brazilian Wandering spider is known to be highly territorial, often jumping onto mammals, even humans, and biting them. They inject venom in 9/10 bites and are known to hide in cars.

That's one cold-hearted b*tch right there. The bite can cause paralysis, asphyxia, and oh yeah, you might die with a raging boner?! Nature, you crazy.

But I bet you have a kick-ass plan for the zombie apocalypse right? Bwahaha

Seriously though, go to the store and buy some mothballs. Scatter them all over the seats and floor-boards, leave the doors open for a few hours, and any bugs in there will run far away. Just make sure to pick them up afterwards because they are toxic. If you don't have kids or pets, there's no harm in leaving a few under the seats to deter any future creepy crawlers from entering. Plus there's not gonna be a lingering smell if you take them out!

I've seen every episode of The Walking Dead, so I feel I am adequately prepared for the impending zombie apocalypse. :uzi:

The moth balls are a great idea though! Just might have to do that.

A former neighbor of mine had done some time in the soft clink, seen all sorts of mean SOBs, but was terrified of spiders. So terrified he literally set his truck on fire and rolled it into a field (the truck was 20 years old at the time) when he saw two banana spiders in it.

Growing up with rattlesnakes and cottonmouths, I try and avoid snakes when possible.

I have no problem with snakes. We had mojave greens and northern pacific rattlers where I grew up, along with the usual rat snakes, king snakes, gopher snakes, red racers, etc. I've even had snakes get out of their cage and go missing inside my house for weeks at a time, only to be found in the oddest places, like inside a speaker. But I can certainly sympathize with your neighbor. It's my firm belief that people that have no problems with spiders, just haven't been f**ked with enough by them to hate them lol.

I recently moved to Florida form Arizona. I've messed with Tranchalas Wolf spiders.... I've been attacked by Wolf spiders. I move to Tallahassee and find a Banana Spider in the back yard the size of my hand(I have big hands) I freak out and can't even go in the back yard. So I make my 16 year old go out and kill it for me.... I'm not ashamed. Look at the wiki.

Banana spider - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Banana spiders sound like no fun. Watch out for those wolf spiders though. I once killed one I found in the house, only to watch millions of it's babies scatter from it's back into every possible crack and crevice in my house! :behindsofa:

But, by far, the scariest ones we had, were the sun spiders. They looked a little something like this:

I had one crawl up onto my shoulder one time, and my friend who was sitting across from me noticed it before I did, and he just looks at me with wide eyes and says "Whatever you do, don't move" and starts heading towards me to brush it off (I assume that's what he would have done). Well of course I knew something undesirable had to be on me, so I jumped up and did the spider dance and made the whole operation a lot more difficult than it had to be.

This is a picture of the actual spider from that story:

Good to know, bug bombs are moving lower and lower onto my list.

Why would you even bring up the possibility of egg sacks? Not alright!

Ok, so plan for the day, is Operation Spider Sauna. The high looks to be 88 today, so hopefully that will be hot enough to bake the 4runner and all unwanted occupants. I will go out and check to make sure all windows are rolled up, and open the sunroof cover and take off the sunshade for maximum heat. And after work I will go buy moth balls and dryer sheets.

Sticky traps are a good idea. I'm thinking I'll scatter a whole box of dryer sheets inside, put some moth balls in a jar, and set down at least 5 sticky straps--the trifecta.

BrianSD_42: I just looked at that tarantula video you posted, and the first thing I said was, "Ohhhhh, heelllll noo! I would be f***ing GONE!" That chick is just following it around the house. I don't like anything near my feet, certainly not some giant spider. I don't really have arachnophobia, but I don't like big spiders like that. That's too much...
The minute I would have seen that thing at my feet, my ass would have been two states over.

BREAKING NEWS

So I went outside earlier to put Operation Spider Sauna into effect, and I saw that my enemy had set up some more webs around my 4runner. I decided to try to track it again to see if I could find it... well look what we have here!

Having found the creature of my nightmare, just sitting there, oblivious to the fact that I was plotting his demise, I had to come up with a damn good plan to annihilate him. I thought of using Raid first, but I didn't want the overspray to cover everything above and behind the seat belt, so that was out as an option.

My next thought, was maybe I can just slam my fist into the seatbelt hard enough that it will crush him right where he hangs. This sounds like a good plan. I'll just hammer fist the whole seatbelt assembly, in the direction of the red arrow in this picture:

I worked up the courage to bring my fist that close to the little monster, and boom! Complete and utter failure. That part of the seat belt doesn't pivot like I thought, so it didn't crush him at all.

On to the next plan, which is best summed up in just this one picture:

Man vs spider--man wins.

Glad you found a spider! Not to make matters worse, but I had a friend (haven't talked to her in years) that had some brown recluse spiders living in her car and she got bit... after she healed, she got bit again. Found out they had a little colony living in her air vents. She lived in FL though, so nothing to worry about for you. :)

It was more like this (strong language warning for any possible little ones watching this):

I'm signing out of life if there's a colony living anywhere in my 4runner. That would be the true worst case scenario right there!

You may have won this battle, but the war is not over.
We know where you live.
We know where you work.
We know where you wheel.
Resistance is futile.

Dude that is a simple tree / bushes spider. Here in SoCal they are HARMLESS!

Even the brown widow is not poisonous enough to require a trip to the hospital.

The Desert Recluse (below) is really the only spider you need to worry about is SoCal. Ohh & those Black Widows.

Thanks for the picture, it's always good to refresh my memory on what those look like.

And I figured it was completely harmless, but, I was not about to stop, drop, and let that little f'er shut 'em down and open up shop in my 4runner, so it had to go.

And in other news, I think I know what the cause of this little spider infestation was... I recently ordered Moog end links. That must have been the cause. Dammit Moog!
