No pictures of a spider, but true story.
Was on the way to church one morning, and had shorts on. I felt a little tickle on the inside of my right thigh.
So I look down and there's a spider RIGHT between my legs.
So naturally I did what any man would do - I punched the sucker.
I'm not entirely sure how I managed to remain on the road for the next few minutes, as I could hardly sit up right in the truck, much less navigate.

So, I have a similar spider situation in my 4Runner. It started developing ever since I started leaving it parked under the trees in my driveway. I see their webs, and their egg sacks, and occasionally I'll see a real chest bursting sized one just waiting for me to let my guard down.
What the ever loving **** do I do!? Bug bombs sound like they're going to damage my precious 4Runner.
Sticky traps and NuVan pro stips? I will ****ing roll my 4Runner if one gets within 5 feet of me while I'm driving.
Much like OP, I am certainly unafraid of scary things (I climbing ****ing mountains and sheer granite cliff faces for Christ's sake...for fun), but these 8-legged spawn of Satan need to be sight unseen for me to be at ease.
Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi...

Scents do help, most insects will shy away from stuff that doesn't smell like a dirty pile of wood or an abandoned warehouse.
Also, the less stuff you have in your vehicle, the less spiders. The only time I ever find spiders (why do they always end up in the driver's seat area) is when I'm hauling around wood or camping gear from the garage and they crawl out of it.
There's always bug spray, but it might mess up paint or plastic trim so not sure if that'd work. I use that near my vehicle in the garage since we have a black widow infestation going on but not on the vehicle. Works well, spiders are sensitive. Don't expect it to cry if you take it to a romantic movie though.

Ok, but in all seriousness, my 4Runner is pretty spartan inside, so no worries there. Abandoned warehouse smell you say? Hmm...that might be a problem. I was going to clean the carpets soon, but I figured I should address the spider thing first. Maybe not though and clean the carpets and then address the spiders?
Thinking of more Gettysburg than JFK Inaugural...(an address pun...)

id call pest control if its a serious infestation, bt one spider can spread a lot of web rather quickly
when I was living in hawaii they had these spiders that were about the size of a softball (google CANE SPIDER) and these things are FAST. I had two in my house at separate times. took alcohol for me to muster up the courage to kill it. I'm not usually afraid of spiders, but these ones made me lose my shit.
my roommate had one of these massive spiders in his car and he never found it after it crawled under his dash. I never got back in his car. he drove around with a fly swatter. (please google it) AH!

Lol. What are you gonna do when one day you're 30 feet out on an old 1/4" bolt and you see a big ass spider on your next hold? It'll make the whole "there's a spider in my runner" thing seem like it was child's play. Invest in a fly swatter and keep your head on a swivel.:thumb3:

I actually don't mind scorpions at all. They stay on the ground and on surfaces. It's the stupid spiders that sit on my ceiling at night that I'm not a fan of lol. I think I got bit by a recluse last month, had a HUGE welt about 6 inches wide for a week and a half and was really sensitive and stuff, no bueno. Wasn't at my house though, I know a black widow bite when I see one. Also no bueno.

You have seen a Camel Spider right? They can run pretty fast. They like running towards the shade in the desert sun. Yeah.. the shade that YOU create by standing by it. Hahahahahaha. Look up their bites! Luckily for me, I didn't run into too many when I was overseas. lol.:thumb:
btw.. It's funny as hell watching a bunch of guys with machine guns running around trying to get away from a fast ass camel spider.

I definitely had an infestation living in my dashboard a few days after I bought my 4runner. Whenever I'd start the truck, 2 or 3 would come running up the inside of the windshield. Fried those suckers with the defroster on hot and high!
Also, I remember once when I was on a family vacation when I was around 15. We were on the road and I saw a spider on the ceiling in front of me. I grabbed a tissue and went to squish it, but missed and knocked it onto my lap. And I never found it. I probably ended up squishing it with all my squirming, but that was still a fun 24 hour drive home.
