JayRolla's Build Thread! Pics!

How many miles were on your fuel pump? Was it giving any other signs of dying before it went out? I think that's my next preventative maintenance item because I don't want to get stranded somewhere because my fuel pump died.

270k miles. No signs. Only thing I noticed was a slight misfire up hill under load. I believe was the pump not supplying enough fuel. But didn't give me much of a notice. OEM pumps are expensive. Hoping my old denso stock pump from my past Mitsubishi's will work.

Definitely a solid start. It'll be looking even better with 285's and sliders. Nice work so far.

Pulled the pump. Went to install an denso pump from a turbo Mitsubishi and found it to large to install without modification of sending assembly. Thought I had an evo 8 pump laying around but could only find an old stock 1g DSM pump and 2 walbro 255's. That's overkill and I'm sure would over run the stock fuel pressure regular. Now I need to order an evo 8 denso. That way is there whenever I decide to supercharger or turbo.

My new project. Hoping to compete in CO street/grudge competitions next season. It's a combined effort with my brother. It is his car. I will be builder/tuner. Both will drive. Currently it runs low 12s/high 11s. Very clean car for having 350k miles. Still original block that's handled this power for many years. But that won't last long once we auto swap and add big turbo.

Well I had to post this here. Did a buddies wifes heater core. 1996 v8 4.6L Thunderbird. It was the hardest job Ive ever done on a car I believe. Thats doing motor swaps, turbo work, head gaskets, timing belts, suspension work. Took me most of 2 days.

Damn. That does not look like fun. Fortunately, here on island, its always summer and the heater core are bypassed and the thermostats are removed.

Did some tear down on the Talon. Just removed some motor parts and cleaned up the engine bay a bit. Getting ready to pull the trans to see why it does not want to move.

DSM trans issues? You're the first I've heard of. (sarcasm). Time for a dog box lol

Ha!! The trans it in now has been built three times. Double synchro 1st-3rd. 4 spider gear diff. It's had 4 clutch setups in 10+ years.

We are going all drag so doing an auto swap. Contemplating removing Finanza flywheel for stock and try another clutch till I find an auto trans.

OMG, I could never drive a Talon.. That right side of the dash would make my OCD kick in big time.

Not going to lie. I hate everything about the interior. It was made for small people for sure. Head hits roof, knees hit dash both sides, small cramped seats, auto seat belt sucks ass and breaks sun visor, dash sucks, blind spots, low seat. I'm sure I missed about 10 more things I hate.

But the 4g63 block, AWD, Viscous LSD, and turbo make up for it. This car is making over 400whp on stock oem block for over 10 years and had 240k miles.

Such a cool car! I loved them when they first came out. The Talon looked much better than the Eclipse version IMO. That good HP..32lbs of boost!!

Yeah, they would destroy anything on the street stock at the time. Mustangs, Corvettes and Camaro's had nothing on DSM's.

The turbo has been fully ported to allow more boost and boost creep. The turbo spikes at about 36psi before leveling between 28-32psi depending on the gear. Its a stock mitsubishi turbo making over 400whp and spools like a stock turbo. So much TQ so fast it can break your neck. Really surprises some high HP cars.

For a little while I noticed slow window motors and dining lights at idle. Odb showed 13.5-13.8v. Thought maybe firing alt. The few weeks ago belts started squealing at startup and alt belt felt loose. Ordered some bando replacement belts.

All the accessories pulleys sound so much better and solid 14.5v at idle. No more slow window motors and dimming lights at idle.

Funny one belt said usa made and others where Japan. Never knew bando had U.S. plant.

She also deserved a wash. Cleans up good for 20+ year old and nearing 300k miles.

Retightened my belts since I was getting a squeal since replacing them. Should be good now.

Ordered up OEM wires and denso plugs. Plugs didn't show up did just through the wires on for now. The OEM wires are very high quality. They came with all the new wire management clips and shielding. Worth going OEM over ngk and black is a lot more clean.

Cheap eBay led headlights. 120W 12000LM FAN CREE LED 6000K WHITE bulbs. $25.99. 5 year warranty.

100 times better than my stock halogens. Hi beam not the best but low beam is great. Little bright up close but throw is good. Cutoff is horrible but hoping not an issue. So far no one has flashed me.
