Just curious

Gryphon,
This is a very small world indeed I also drove in Manila , Phils. for a lot of years and also the countryside. I know exactly what you are talking about. I may add that the three colors on the traffic light means like this.
Green means go , Yellow means hurry up and Red means don't get caught , at a four way stop whoever stops first is chicken and hence the last one to cross the intersection.
Now with regards to Montana a few years back I drove there and love that no daytime (take note daytime) speed limit. A state trooper had to remind me the no speed limit is effective only during the daytime this of course after pulling me over at nighttime. :awais: :awais:

I did most of my driving down in Bicol, around between Naga and Legazpi. Interesting when you see a line of guys along the road with sticks and a poor dog trapped between in the road...and call it dinner!

Luckily, they re-instituted the speed limit. "Reasonable and prudent" had too much room for interpretation I guess. We run 70 on the highway now, well that is what is posted. Most run 80. I run 65 for better mileage usually...tho I ran 85 responding to a fire the other day and got called in for speeding! Dorks anyway :D

(we are allowed 15 over the limit where safe to do so. Nice disclaimer, eh?)

...when a person can't see around me to notice that the person in front of me is holding me up in the left lane and there is no where to go...they ride my azz like it is my fault.

A nice little trick I do when someone is tailgating me is hit my windshield washer jets. Toyota's have a nice *jet* and the rear car gets a nice fine mist on their windshield. You know it works when you see them hit their wipers:D

...one more thing...

keep in mind...that sometimes that car behind you CAN see the car in front of you - and from the rear car's point of view, if it looks to him like you are doing nothing to remove the slow driver from the left lane (as in NOT flashing him, honking, tailgating, swerving, throwing blunt objects, calling names, etc), he may be riding your arse to get you to do something, since he is powerless to do so from the 3rd slot. I'm guilty of that, if only because car #2 in front of me looks as though he's content to cruuiiiiiise along in the passing lane with the car infront of him.

You know what, I have done this! IT rocks. I used to drive a RAV4 (insert gay joke here like everyone else has done from 98-03 to me!!!) and the darn rear fluid sprayer never hit the winshield. It would litterally shoot over the car and hit the person sitting next to me. This proved awesome on two occassions!!!

1) I could drench tailgaters with the fluid...and since the fluid did not work at all to clean the windows I could add some oily substance such as glycerol or something to smear their window and they would be forced to pull over to clean it.

OR my favorite thing of all time!

2) I occassionally drove on a highway with traffic lights to and from work. It was a fricking rat race. Get up to 65/slam on brakes/ repeat for 40 minutes. I had this ahole with a convertable riding my arse and he decided that he would whip the car around me on the right but he got caught my the light and was sitting right next to me. I unleashed hell on his interior with my gelatenous fluid and he fricking kept looking up like it was raining. I struggled like hell to keep a straight face and just kept holding the sprayer down until the light turned green. The back of his seat and suit coat and the interior of his car was fricking soaked. I felt great the rest of the day.

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Dude that has to to be the funniest story i have heard in a while.

The car that i had previous to my yota, was a jeep grand cherokee limited. The best feature about that was that the nozel for the rear windshied wiper would point down from the top of the rear door. So, as a joke my friend happened to flip it upside down (and he may have done something else to it as well, don't know) but when i would push the button to clean the rear window, it would shoot straight from the rear of the car out to the people or cars behind me. THe best misuse of a rear windshield washer, that is until i read your story

Cheers to you

Pass 'em on the right. I too was drilled only to "drive left, pass right", but in this day and age there are too many that think the left lane is just a more open/clear travel lane to putt along in.

Yeah, that will work great, right up until he tries that on an unmarked police car. :awais:

There's always that chance... but most cops I know/seen do not drive slowly in the passing lane. Even off duty, they are good drivers, other than the fact that they think they have a license to go any speed they want at any time, so I doubt you'll ever catch one being the highway pace car.

They do in Ohio! They just dare you to pass them on the right. In Ohio, they like to slow to exactly or just below the speed limit so that it causes a pack to form behind them b/c everyone is scared to pass too fast and on the right. And, nobody is going to ride his arse to get him over. This pack provides cover for them as they clock you. You can't pick them up as easily when they are in a pack.

I hate when they play games like that. Cops cause more trouble (road rage and traffic backups for starters) than the occasional speeder that goes by at 90mph. If everyone just moved OVER to the right, the 90mph speeder would just pass everyone by until a cop catches him or he dumps his chrome-tipped, lowered WRX into a ditch somewhere. It's when the speedsters have to weave in/out of traffic due to idiot drivers that accidents can happen.
