Yup, 2WD models have a button to disable the traction control, V6 or V8.

now someones got to find a 2wd and follow the wire and see where it goes, I'd like to add the switch

V8.

Smoother, quieter, and more reserve power for passing and uphills compared to the V6.

However, Toyota is very conservative in the power output. My 1996 Tahoe 5.7 V8 is rated for 250 hp/330 ftlbs just about the same as the Toyota V8 235/300. Chevy does not use the 5.7 anymore, but gave that to Dodge and Dodge cranks out some nice numbers on the Hemi 5.7.

Nissan's Endurance 5.6 also cranks out some nice figures and moves very well.

BMW uses the 4.2 and 4.4 liter V8 and crank out over 300 ponies. Jaguar's 4.2 supercharger romps out 390 horses. Vovol's new Yamaha built 4.4 hits 300 easy.

I don't tow so huge torque is not necessary. 300 is more than adequate. I don't have a lead foot so 235 ponie is fine. However, there is no reason Toyota can't crank out an easy 330-350 ponies out of what is the largest of the sub 5 liter V8, especially when it has to pull the 5,500 pound Land-Crusher. 330 horses in a 4,400 pound 4Runner would make that 50-80 mph romp even smoother and more exhilerating.

Hopefully so you can do big burnouts......if there's one thing that really chaps my ass with 4Runners and other new Toyota, it's the inability to turn off the VSC/TRAC systems at will (without locking the diff).

It would be so cool to do a burn out with this truck, sometimes you can fool the truck and get a slight chirp out of the tires but I wanna spin them like crazy:awais:

I've done several burn outs in the 4runner. Not in mine but in our loaner vehicles. Its pretty fun. The thing I don't like about the the traction control is once you turn it off it automatically turns back on once you start driving normally.

you have a 2wd, can you follow the wire and see where it goes maybe it's just a stupid fuse

Just found this awesome forum! I have the 2003 v8 4runner. I tow a 2000 Toytota boat with it and can;t even tell it's behind it. weighs about 3K. BTW, the boat has the v8 300 VVT-i Lexus engine. Both pur like a kitten.
