Katzkin Leather

I noticed that the suggested retail price is around $2000 on the katzkin website, but the prices i have seen on here seem to be in the $1100-1300 range including install. Why is there such a large discrepancy?

Katzkin uses some of the retailers as partners that ship to other shops which also makes them a "vendor". The price you see on the website is basically the MSRP but the higher volume installation shops get them much cheaper.

Nice! If that's what the leather seats from factory would have looked like, we may have considered them a bit more......

2 things though about other items:

1) The heated seat switches appear to be the same "aftermarket" switches and installation location as our dealer installed heated seats (they were supposed to be done at the upfitters/distribution center/dock/whatever). I'm concerned with setting thing down in that area and actuating the switches unknowingly. Although that is the same location that factory installed switches would be also, they utilize roller style switches and this isn't a concern.

2) You said you popped off the trim pieces on the steering wheel when you went to sew the leather......are these the trim pieces in the cross bars that contain the steering wheel controls? Does it appear that these could be ordered to replace non-steering wheel controls (I understand the wiring may not be there)?

Thanks for the info, I am planning on replacing my TE waterproof stuff with katzkin. I liked the idea of the waterproof cloth because I do a lot of fishing and other watersports, but to be honest it's pretty uncomfortable on long drives.

I've only driven a SR5 and I thought the seat was not the best. They were very flat and un-supportive. Only sat in them 15 minutes though.

The material is a bit coarse almost like gortex or textured canvas i guess. The overall design is OK, not the best, but the material is my main gripe.

From what I have read, they usually cut off the covers because it is glued down to the foam, but I guess I will find out.

You can always install the switches in another location...someone put them in the glovebox facing out towards the shifter, the options are endless.

Yes I am sure you can order the trim pieces with or without holes for the steering wheel controls. You should contact your local Toyota parts department and see what they can get in for you.

Hi and thanks for the great pics and advice. I'll be getting an '11 SR5 in about two weeks probably in classic silver with the cloth. Is this what you started with as I really like your choice of leathers and was it an exact match? Thanks.

I picked up my 4runner this afternoon from Custom Auto Restyling in Richmond, VA. I had Katzkins installed and I am very happy with the results.

Color: Black and Ice Grey the Ice grey matches the grey on my door panels and center console perfectly.

The install took a whole day.
