Kenwood DNX7100

Just got done installing it! Took me forever! One thing though....my nav volume is ridiculous low....any fix?

Yea, I had the same issue. You can change the volume on one of the GPS settings menus.

I still need to go back in and adjust the TYTO-01 because once I crank up the volume, the sound gets real cut up.

Ok...I just put both nav and xm volumes on 100%....I don't even hear sm and nav still sounds like a wuss =P

Never mind, I figured it out. You have to turn on the nav source from the av interface menu. Now I'm happy! This thing's hot!

SWI-JACK installation looks very confusing...still contemplating whether I should install it =P I'll just wait til I get my backup camera I guess

The swi-jack is a little confusing the wiring isn't too bad. I programmed it once and I have to do it again because it's not working right. I used a soldering iron to wire the resistor inline.

Not trying to resurrect a post, but there was no need to start a new thread when most of my ?'s have been answered by reading this.

I have a 2005 4runner with a *non* JBL system. Just your basic CD player Toyota head unit. I am going to purchase the Kenwood DNX7100 today along with Ipod KCA-IP300V adapter and I'm wondering if I need any harness(es) to connect the factory system to the aftermarket head unit? I know from reading this thread that with JBL systems and steering wheel controls you need separate parts, but since I have non of that I am wondering if I need anything else?

Every aftermarket head unit I ever installed needed some sort or harness, but through countless searches I have not found a concrete answer nor any part numbers for the non JBL non steering wheel control system.

Any help would be appreciated along with part numbers so I can purchase everything I need at once and have a nice clean install.

I am not installing blue tooth, a back up camera or the HD Radio. I was going to install the HD Radio, but 90% of the time I listen to the ipod and the other 10% of the time is talk radio any how.

Howdy.....I'm not sure about the non-JBL system but my thread here shows all the parts I used including the adapters. Also, unless you have found old stock somewhere, the DNX7100 has been replaced with the 7120 from what I understand. Good luck!

Thanks for the response. I read the complete thread before posting here, but since you did it on a JBL system I figured there would obviously be some differences.

And I did mix up the head unit model. I have the choice between (both new) a Kenwood DNX5120 ($520) and a Kenwood DDX712 ($575).

I was going to go with the DDX712 b/c it's the newer model of the two or so I'm told.

I wont be sure how the front door speaker and tweeter is ran till I check it out, but I am hoping that the tweeter runs into the door speaker b/c apparently unless I hook up an amp (which won't happen for awhile) I will only be able to run two fronts and two rears with the harness.

I did not get a chance to go over yesterday and pick up the 712 head unit. I called this AM to see if he still had it and he sold it. He told me he would sell me his last DNX 5120 for $455. He said he was giving me a Military discount off the price he quoted me before at $520.

What's every ones opinion on the 5120? Should I go and grab this or is there some thing better? Should I just get the 7100? The price of this 5120 seem extremely good, especially with the discount.

I want Navigation and DVD already in the unit. I don't want to have to buy adapter's for the Navigation. I personally most likely won't use blue tooth or the satellite radio.

LMK your opinions.
