Kid's 4runner for sale

What did I just missed? What happen to freedom of speech? The kid was trying to sell his 4runner. Am I going to get banned to for speaking about this? People like "the kid" help build and make T4R into what it is now. His input and eagerness to help other in need was greatly appreciated by me and others. Why not give him a warning?

Kid - maybe come back with new username as "the parent". "the kid" will me missed. You're input is always welcome in my book.

There is absolutely no reason to act this way on a forum, especially to the comment that started this rant. I like the kid, but that was going way too far and uncalled for. This site is a privilege, not a right and it's really not that hard to follow the rules.

In regards to your freedom of speech comment, really? Gosh I hate that saying sometimes. I'm all about being able to say what you want, but there will be consequences. This forum has a very specific and laid out guideline on language and member to member interactions. If you follow them, you're fine, but "Freedom of Speech" as you call it will get you banned. It's not wanted nor needed on this forum. It doesn't mean we all need to act like princesses and be polite all this time, but blatantly swearing at another member and attacking them is in NO way the spirit that this forum upholds.

In regards to his actual for sale thread, I'm not happy that mods just delete the thread. A simple locking of the thread and notifying the OP to correct it will take care of any threads that do not comply with the new martketplace rules.

I didn't see the ad, but I'm guessing that it wasn't posted in accordance with the classifieds rules that were posted.

Mods, I'm not calling anybody out, but for whatever it's worth I agree that just deleting a post without any notification to the poster why it was deleted or how he can fix it is heavy-handed. It's very jarring to the sense of community around here when posts just magically go missing, and it smacks of the heavy-handed moderation I've complained about in the past.

In my (perhaps worthless) opinion, a note in the thread, and perhaps a PM to The Kid to follow up, would have served the same purpose. He fixes his post, rules have been complied with, everybody is happy. Now you have drama, and drama sucks.

As per what [MENTION=24995]SV_Dude[/MENTION] said. His ad did not meet guidelines. Really, it didn't. I saw it before it got taken down and while I don't know the guidelines by heart I know there atleast has to be a price, which there wasnt. That's the whole point of selling is money right? While I do agree there should be some kind of a lock then inform system like [MENTION=53337]SCRunner12[/MENTION] said, he didn't follow the rules, thread got taken down, you cant be pissed at that when you know its coming.

His little explosion is what got him banned. Which was also needed. I don't want to see that kind of crap. Yea *****azz or whatever his name is, spurred an already pissed off horse which is wrong. He got what he deserved too. But you cant just go off on people like that. He is definitely respected by me and others but thats not cool.

For what it's worth, I wish people could just follow the few simple rules and everyone will get along and be happy. That's not the case so the kid got what he earned. His for sale thread was not even remotely close to the guidelines so it got axed... By me. If all of us mods had time to hold everyone's hand and pat them on the behind (aka: breast feed) everyone then we would. The fact is that he has been around for a while and knows the rules. Heck, the posting guidelines are in each sub forum. Usually if someone skips one on the guidelines then we'll let it slide and ignore it. But when guys skip several guidelines then their thread gets moved. They don't get deleted. If someone sends us mods a pm (which is pretty common) asking us what happened and how we can help then we always do. If they don't then they can either recreate their thread or forget about it.

I'm sorry if some people don't like it. As I have said before, us mods are here to help (yes help, believe it or not) everyone. Unfortunately, in order to please the masses there will be a few who don't like it.

Like SV said, we can't hold all your hands and we can't please EVERY single person here. We're all grown ups and young adults though and everyone should know that any forum you go to there will be rules and guidelines. If you don't follow them you'll get the consequences listed. We've been more than generous to let a lot of posts slide in general and in the for sale section. I've constantly been moving [WTB] threads that have been posted everywhere other than the WTB section. I could sit there and delete (move to mod trash) every one of them if I wanted to but I don't. The threads can usually always be moved back from our trash bin if the OP contacts us. Unless it's worth deleting all together. If you feel attacked or need reasoning behind what us mods do, send us a PM and we'll be happy to explain. Otherwise, don't complain about it to the open if you know that what you did went against the policies. We're here to help, not be your worse enemies.

If you post pics unrelated to the T4R it may be deleted at the discretion of the mods/admins. In addition, please refrain from excessive pic posting (e.g., attaching dozens of photoshopped versions of your taillights to see which version looks best). If you post an excessive amount of pics they may be deleted at the discretion of the mods/admins. Also, please do not post pics of another member's ride without their permission.


You're welcome to post as many photos as you like, so long as they're hosted elsewhere (IE: Photobucket, flickr, imageshack, etc.)

7. No Multiple Registrations
Registering under more than one username is prohibited. Registering multiple usernames will result in a permanent ban of original and all related usernames.

8. No multiple postings

If you list your T4R for $5k over KBB don't be surprised when we tell you it is worth $3k or whatever less than KBB.

The purpose of the forum isn't to help people rip off future members by overcharging lurkers for a 4Runner. T4R.org gets nothing off of a classified sale so its hard to argue that the site has any interest in the price of the vehicles or items sold.

I've talked to the kid a few times outside the forum. He's generally a pretty mellow guy. I was surprised to see him fly off the handle like that too. But we all have out bad days, I've been there and I'm sure everyone reading this has too.

Mods, I get the no hand holding thing. But couldn't you just PM people that their threads will be moved if they don't correct them immediately? Don't even tell them what's wrong, just a generic: "Your thread XXX will be moved unless (or even until) it meets forum posting rules.

Not blaming his tyraid in you guys, just thinking of a different way to handle these situations. And yes, I know they could be avoided if people just read the rules. But show me any forum where the members are tight in the rules.

In a perfect world we would shoot a message to the member who made the thread. Unfortunately that takes a lot of time that we don't always have. Sometimes we may go through the threads and just fix one thing here and there too. But as stated before, his thread was wrong in several ways.

All respect due to you Brian, but you seem to not understand what a lowball is, i have seen him within the last couple weeks offer half of a seller's asking price on more than one occasion. These weren't sellers trying to rip anyone off either, these were honest deals that were very reasonably priced, no one would have been taken advantage of.

The example you listed is apples to oranges of what makes a disrespectful lowball. I dont go in the "Vehicles" section because i already have a 4R, so yeah, my experience is with all the other sections and the tons of other forums i buy and sell on.

Bottom line for me is, i cant stand some ignorant douche making lowball offers for quality parts, wastes everyone's time and clutters a thread.
