I did not appreciate your presumption that I am trying to pass off a normal top as a custom one. I could have easily been lied to by the manufacturer. Please keep in mind that Kirk told me that he made this top as a custom one off, with the triangle ends elongated near the roll bar to accompany a strap. Your reply makes it sound like I knowingly bought a normal top, installed it improperly, and then called it custom. It took him 3 months to get it done and shipped. Was I lied to? I have a bone to pick with Kirk/KTT if you're telling me the same top I paid $180 for was the same one I could have gotten for $125.
As far as my "re-engineering" goes, it was a simple way to get what I wanted. It may not be the pinnacle of beauty, or the way the clip was intended to function, but it works for my intended purpose (An easy, convenient way to mount a strap, given the desired look I was going for). For you to call me out and tell me that I'm "wrong" is like telling someone they did they air box deck plate mod wrong because it was engineered for water use. Please take a look at the bigger picture, your post could have been worded differently to avoid stepping on toes.
