This thread will document all past and future upgrades to my 2002 Millennium Silver SR5 4Runner.
Bio
I'm from Virginia, but have lived in Hawaii and Japan growing up. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Forensic Anthropology and am an engineer in the US Navy. I love human history, shootings guns, flying planes, riding motorcycles, fishing, and chilling on the beach :smokin:
Backstory
In 2014 I inherited my grandfather's 2008 Chevrolet Silverado LT. The truck was beautiful and drove like a dream. I thoroughly enjoyed it but its fatal flaw was the lack of 4WD.
A few experiences brought to light the importance of having 4WD. I once got stuck in some snow and ice at college and busted ass for two hours with a plastic shovel and pots of hot water to get her moving again. Later that summer at the beach in the Outer Banks, my buddy was driving my truck and made the mistake of going off-road into the sand. We dug in deep and there was no getting out. We tried putting rocks and chunks of gravel under the rear wheel to gain traction but it was futile. A nice guy in a Tundra promptly stopped and pulled us out with ease. He said, "You need a four-wheel drive, I would never buy a vehicle that doesn't have it." That next week I sold the Chevy.
My parents owned a 3rd gen 4Runner and have owned a few in the past, I always liked them. I began the search for my own 4Runner, but my father said, "There's a sweet 4Runner sitting in the driveway, just buy that one." Done! I cut my father a check for the bone stock Millenium Silver 2002 SR5 that was sitting out back. She had 165,000 miles on the clock when I took her. The timing belt had recently been replaced and she was mechanically sound.
I discovered this awesome forum, began learning all there is to know about these badass trucks, and began modifying...
My 4R as of July 2018
