LBJ - manual shows 2 different torque values

My factory manual shows 2 different values and searching does not help. This is for the four bolts holding the LBJ to truck

1. 37 ft lbs with lower ball joint protector
2. 59 ft lbs without lower ball joint protector

I can't find any reference to a lower ball joint protector and all the how to's on this forum have 59 as the torque. Any ideas what the protector is?

The protector was a guard that went around the lower nut. You'll know if you have it or not. There's a round cup that goes around the nut.

Thanks - did some more searching in repair manual after lunch and found a diagram which shows exactly what you described. No idea why or which models got the protector since my manual is 2001 specific.

I've only seen them on one 4runner.
