LCA Bushings: Energy vs. Whiteline

Last time I did LCAs I used Whiteline, but Energy Suspension is like half the price... Honestly, this isn't actually about price.

What's the "gold standard" today?

FWIW, I have not evaluated my current bushings to be bad, just planning ahead and stockpiling parts.

Get the whitelines, it’s such a huge pain in the ass to remove an old bushing while keeping that metal sleeve intact the whitelines are worth the extra cost

Whiteline comes with the sleeves and can be pressed in. To use Energy, you need to retain the stock sleeves which, as I understand, requires torching/burning or otherwise removing the sleeves from the stock bushings/LCA.

I am currently hunting for a good deal on the Whiteline UCA bushings, which also use their own metal sleeve.

$70 was a no brainer, and I have installed them before, so all good. I'm going with whiteline again.

For my UCAs, I'm installing a set of SPCs, and those come with bushings in place, so I'm good on upper bushings.

I have had Whitelines since August 2021. I have been on about 6 trail runs, and I'm not afraid to use my Savage Skids to clear an obstacle. So far the only issue was needing to retorque the LCA bolts a few times. Last retorque was 2 runs ago, so I think I'm good. I was getting a pretty gnarly popping sound when backing up and turning the wheel.

I used SPC UCA's and the 333 Fab Alignment Cam Delete plates to lock in my alignment. Torque those Cam Bolts to 140 ft lbs if you go with the 333 Fab kit.

Curious how that setup worked out, initially and ultimately.

How did you setup upper and lower to start and what adjustments were needed for a proper alignment?

Did you set UCAs at D and LCAs neutral?

I set everything Neutral for now, as I am not lifted. Came out nearly perfect. You can really only fine tune camber though. Let

I would take a look at Super Pro as well. They are not cheap, but well made.

Watching Tim’s video at least a couple times is a prerequisite before anything other than an oil change!
It’s more about the rusty hardware that keeps me putting off swapping out the bushings but it’s probably time to bite the bullet and get it done.

A blowtorch and a bottle jack will be your best friend for this job. One of my old bushings shot out with pretty good force the last time I did it, so make sure you're aiming in a safe direction.

While you've got the lower control arm out it's an excellent time to clean it up and repaint it, install new sway bar bushings and steering rack bushings.

Great idea on the steering rack bushings.
Recommendation on brands……Whiteline or stick with OEM?
This is my DD, no lift or wheeling.

Whiteline is Australian which says enough for me to chose them. Bogans know their cars.

I used SuperPro for my Steering Rack, would have gone with Whiteline, but they were out of stock, and I was out of time.

Lots of guys wheeling go Toyo on steering rack rubber. I did Energy on my 2WD and will do rubber on my 4WD.

Yeah, the thing about Toyota rubber is that it lasts for 20 years and was designed in concert with all the components. So IMO you can't really go wrong with new Toyota rubber...

And they come with a new OEM rack (at least 2/3, I think). I still swapped my poly over to the new rack... :der:

For the guys that don't put their rigs in extreme situations, read over articulation, Poly is fine and will outlive you and the truck. For guys that wheel hard, rubber is more forgiving than Poly and won't split as easily.

Use case dictates the material.
