LED Dash lights FAQs

Mike, does your set up have any hot-spots in the gauges? I'm looking at getting the same set up you have and am just wondering about the gauges because of the single forward facing LED, thinking that it may cause hot spots, but I don't know. Thanks, I've never worked with LEDs in a gauge cluster before.

Wanting to do this soon, but im having trouble seeing all the pics in the first post. I dont think its a problem with my computer but not sure.

Awesome! I think I'll be tackling this now. Could you show pics of yours? I may opt for the "cool white" also. THANKS!

I replaced my odometer, key ring , and a/c - heat controls with green/blue LEDs. Looks very clean and simple. I used green led in odometer, its big step up vs stock green. I like green its my favorite color. But with led its much crispier color.

Thanks for putting this thread together. It clears up a ton of confusing info and misinformation that can be found on the internet. I have an '02 and ordered exactly what I need (per this thread) from Superbrightleds.com. I purchased all white LED's for the dash/interior. Fortunately, this company is located in STL where I live so if I have any issues, I'll go straight to their store. I'll get them installed in the next couple weeks and post some pics when I'm finished. Thanks again for the write up! -JM

I can't seem to find a definetive answer for this. I want to change my center console lights and other non warning/important lights to blue. Is it as easy as putting a blue bulb in or is the plastic the light comes through the color that you see? Thank you MStudt or anyone else who knows

Just the bulb. The factory bulbs are clear bulbs with a green rubbery film over them. Pull them out, and put in the new ones.

Thank you very much! I can now finally give myself a clean and coherent look across all my dash lights. :reddance:

Got through the console/ temp controls. All of it worked fine when I checked it and then when I put everything back together now nothing including my instrument panel works. Any ideas ? I did check for blown fuses but I have not located one yet .

JohnnyMack - did you come right with your lighting issues? Hope you did.
I have an 02 and would very much like to get this mod as soon as I can.

Much thanks to the OP, awesome thread, thank you. look forward to cleaning up my cockpit.

I don't have the sweet limited, and have a good ole 1999 SR5. Here is my question to yous, does anyone else notice a green hue still after changing the HVAC bulbs?

Didn't see any images here, so here is a picture of my dash lit up with white LED's. Matches well with the blue-white scheme of the Pioneer.

Subscribed. Once I get the mechanical stuff done and she proves her mettle for a year or so, I'll upgrade all of the interior lights to LEDs. Kind of want to keep the ol' green look instead of switching over, guess we'll see what happens.

Append: Wanted to ask after the shift indicator lights under the speedo as well: The "D" is super-dim and the others are brighter. Same LEDs? Also - map lights? Wait, what? Don't think I have those on my 2002 LTD.

you can definitely keep with pretty much any color you want. Pretty awesome stuff. I switched over to an amber color, and it's a pretty cool intermediate. Not as harsh as white, and just something different

MStudt do you know of any brighter options for the 99? Got mine from superbrightleds.com, and I might as well have left the original bulbs on there.
