LED Front Turn Signals on an 07?

I have a 2007 with LED tails and I am wanting to switch the front turn signals to LED as well.

I was trying to do some searches to see what came up but I couldnt find the info I was looking for specifically.

1. What "type" of LED do I want? Rather, I know they can come in clusters big and small. I have 4 cluster whites for my license plate for instance. How many in a cluster do I want for front bulbs to ensure it's still bright enough to be seen as well (or better) than the stock bulbs? Also, are they plug and play like my license plate bulbs were or are they more involved?

2. I read something about needing a resistor because the LEDs blink faster? Is this required or can I get away with just replacing the LEDs and letting it blink a touch faster? Will it make my rears blink faster too?


If there is a video clip of a 4th Gen with LED fronts floating around, can anyone link me?

did your truck came with drl?
i use 1156 27 smd 5050 led white for the front and 7440 27 smd 5050 amder in the back, u must also change the flasher relay that is design to use with leds, i never use resistors, but the flasher relay are easy to change.

Drl uses 1157 bulbs, get the switch back version, they cost a lil more, but still need the flasher relay changed out to make it flash normal.

No I don't have the DRLs. Does it require a different bulb/process between 4runners who have it, and those who dont?

Drl use 1157 bulbs, non drl use 1156, go on ebay and look for the bulbs, vleds cost more for the same source.

Can anyone tell me about the resistor for the fast flashing? I am not mechanically inclined past oil and serp belt changes and a fear of messing something up prevents me from tinkering with my 4runner too much.

Is the resister required? Will it make my lights freak out if I skip it?

From what i heard, resistors tend to get hot, i always op out and just change the flasher relay, its on ebay, look for toyota lexus flasher, should have like a 8 pin type of plug, to change it, take the panel and the fuse box under the driver side and look on the back of it, u will see the unit and swap it.

Hi riceandpho, I searched on superbrightleds.com and found this page - LED Brake Light, Turn Light and Tail Light Bulbs - Super Bright LEDs - however I can't find the switchback version.

So, if I need to replace my turn light bulbs, I just need to get 4 of the 1157's and the flasher relay?

What about replacing the brake light itself with an LED bulb? Do you know which specific LED bulb has that function - ie light up normally when the parking lights are on, but then it goes brighter when you apply the brakes?

did ur truck come drl equip? if yes only need 2 1157 and 7440 for rear turn, changing the tail to led is not bright enough.

One other question, is it possible to change out the fogs to a bright white LED as opposed to a complete HID upgrade for the fogs? I think it's overkill to upgrade the fogs to HID (I'll upgrade the main headlights to HID though).

I did the same on my GS400 and regretted putting in a HID kit in the fogs.
