LED Kit (Looking for so_LED)

THANK YOU! i was actually doing it that way but got scared as the truck is only 3 weeks old and don't want to break anything

Did you order the amazon kit? Did your dome LED light work? They gave me two, neither is working. All the others worked fine.

I ordered from Amazon, only one of my dome lights worked. I was also able to get the rear hatch lights done successfully. jarury I used the courtesy/door lights to replace the vanity lights and decided to use the other courtesy lights for the license plates lights .

Thanks, good to know. Will contact vendor and have them resend some dome lights.

FYI - I did the same thing re: vanity lights. Good call :) Though do have fingers crossed I put mirrors back on correctly.

I didn't end up doing the puddle lights cause the mirrors scare me to pull off even though I saw the thread on it, haha

Gotcha! Misunderstood the vanity light to be the puddle lights. Actually wasn't too hard to do, think I had more trouble getting the map lights out!

How did you get the vanity lights out? we tried that also but couldn't get the cover to come off.

can you link the thread? I may try it anyway.

yes map light were a pain to get out! the metal bezel around them is frustrating!

jarury I'm on my phone so I can't get to the link, but you basically want to use the flat head and pry the vanity light from the left side molding instead of the light cover, just work it till it pops out and it's the normal switch of the bulb to led. P.s. You work the molding from the left side of the vanity for both driver and passenger side. I hope this makes sense. Let me know how it turns out.

try putting them in in the other direction.. flip it around.. dunno why its like that but it is

Second row dome wasn't a bulb, rather a board of LEDs, like the rear cargos (which worked fine). Following pics show:
1) What Dome package looked like - and how I hooked up to test in Dome socket, which failed for both packages
2) What disassembled rear cargo looked like - very same concept as Dome
3) What assembled rear cargo looked like before I plugged back into SUV

Thanks, Makes perfect sense sense the rear hatch ones are the same way.

How did you guys remove the map lights?

I took down the whole overhead console and replaced it from behind, but I did look at how to pop off the lens covers while I had it down. I would recommend you slowly pry off the center rectangular lens cover first (it's held on by 4 little pegs, one at each corner), then you should have enough room to stick your fingers in to pull off each individual map light lens cover.

Unless you have wee hands, I'd recommend, after pulling the covers to the map lights, using electrical tape; cut 3-4" off, wrap as much as you can around the bulb, then use as a grip to wiggle out of the socket.

Good luck!

Yup, the electric tape was my method as well. Took a little work, but I was able to get them out without breaking the bulbs.

Sorry to high jack
Just got my kit in the mail... Do these look right? Need to reread through a few threads I remember thinking the Dome light and rear hatch light were a lot bigger squares.... Hmmm

Those festoon bulbs you have should fit fine for the center dome and hatch, it seems like it's a single higher powered LED instead of the circuit board kind you see posted above.

I've used those in the past and they are plenty bright, but i guess more of a hot spot vs the circuit board kind since the LEDs are not as spread out. Not too noticeable unless you are staring directly at it, but who does that :)
