I love my hood scoop, but it irks me just a little that it is not functional. What mod could be installed into the scoop to make it good for something besides looks?

Knight Rider lights are out. They are too cliche, however they would give an added punch to the already old school Cylon look of the 5th gen.

A remote trigger BB gun is illegal.

Too limited of a viewing angle for a camera housing.

Any other ideas?

Open it up, cut holes in the hood and mount it backwards. It will help vent heat, especially at lower speeds

You are incorrect to say incorrect. You could design ducting to turn it into a CAI with a little thought.

I have a sport hood w/ no insert, it runs cooler and at red lights you can see the heat escaping. Therefore there is a benefit and a function. And like 1Engineer said, you can always rig up a CAI to it. That is all.

I know I'm the "new guy" on the forums here but I have an idea for ya. A few months back on the Tacoma forums a member installed a rigid industries led light bar inside the scoop. Now hear me out before you make fun of me, lol.....everyone laughed at the guy and said it would reflect off his hood and would be a joke. Well he made a video of it ( I'm headed over there right after this to look for it) and damn if that thing wasn't awesome!! it lit up the road 5x better than his headlights w/ ZERO reflection from his hood. He has a 2011 or 12 model so I'm guessing the scooop is the same size. The video is VERY well made and I recall it either posted in 720p or 1080i..so yeah it's super clear video of how well it worked. Everyone then of course said how he was a genius :lmao:

what about a LED light bar? Albeit a short one. I don't have a TE so i wouldn't know how wide or high the opening is, but I've seen FJs with this done. Looks pretty good IMO

Awesome!! best idea i've seen so far. The 5th gen 4Runner scoops are different from the 11' and older Tacomas (12's are the same), wider and shorter so the LED may not fit but def worth looking into.

haha yeah it's kinda $$ but I have a master planimp:. What we do is get the T4r.org member Ride to try out a set and he'll become hooked.... then we get him to to do a group buy!
