Incorrect. For the scoop to be functioning the 4runner would have to be carbed and not fuel injected.

Not for reducing engine bay temperatures.. although the question becomes then what air outlet are you adding? side vents anyone? :nicethread:

Unless the scoop is designed to rout air directly into the intake you won't see any benefit from simply opening the scoop since all you do is let in dirt and debris and a dirty engine will run hotter canceling out any benefit of an open scoop.

Am I the only one in here who hates having the scoop. The rear sloping portion of the scoop acts a mirror when the sun is low and in front of the vehicle. The resulting reflection from the sun is a constant irritant I find.

I hated that when we had our Tacoma. Just so happens they built the main roads here, inline with the sun rising and setting, lol. So if it's sunny you get blinded all the way to work then all the way home.

Good idea deekoi. Though I would want to find someone who could professionally cut out and install a piece just around/over the scoop itself. Boss 302 style. I'm not sure about the whole hood idea for my tastes.
