Lexus GX going unibody, will 4Runner follow?

Ah another Jeep bites the dust. I hate the CVT in our Altima. My wife and I fight over who is going to take the 4Runner. Needless to say she wins:whip2:

In theory CVT is the best way to transfer power automagically. Works well in ATV's an other smaller vehicles but in a full size automobile the technology isn't quite there.

When I was purchasing my last car (Audi A4) I drove some CVT models an they drove great and had awesome power delivery. But they didn't offer it in AWD and they are notoriously unreliable. Their life span is generally less than 100,000 miles unfortunately, the only vehicle I havent heard bad things about their CVT is Subaru but I think that will change soon once more are on the road long term.

I mean when you think about it they're essentially infinite variable gear ratio transmissions. On paper it sounds good
