Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

To me even 2.7* was not enough.
Side wind and any ruts in the road I felt like I was all ways steering to correct, like you could never relax.
Long drives on the hwy were tense.

To me over 4* was WAY better.
Its not pulling into every little rut in the road now and your not on edge steering constantly.

I'm surprised that even 2.7* of caster was not enough...

-Bilstein 5100s all the way around with the front set to the 2nd notch(I believe..)
-moog FJ springs up front
-wheelers/eibach springs in the rear
-265/70R18 Cooper discoverer AT3

-had the 265/70r18's on before I lifted and had some running when turning left in reverse but this took care of it.

hmmm, are you sure there is no rubbing?

You didn't move the fender liners or anything?

Hey if you dont mind could you text my number (970-270-7699) to ask you some questions through text/messages? Im going for almost the exact same setup as you and im about to buy everything but i have questions!

You might consider

-wheelers/eibach springs in the rear

-

some longer 2nd gen rear sway bar links in back. its a cheap "upgrade" to the rear t12s b/c the 4th gen links are a bit shorter and cause the rear coils to preload when you drive with no weight in back..i

What effect does having preloaded rear coils do? I'm not sure if I need extended links or not since so far my driving feels normal.

This is only my experience

I just didnt like the ride driving without any weight in back. When i experimented with some rocks/sandbags the ride really improved. Also when empty and no weight, under heavy braking they contributed to brake dive when that preloaded energy becomes released as the spring expands.

Theres a tread around here somewhere

Quick question for you. I have a 05 SR5 with a 3" Toyota lift. I tried to get BFGs 265.65.17's and the tire place told me they will not fit. I ended up getting Destination ATs and they are ok but I have had BFGs before (on my older 4runner) and they last forever and look great. Could I simply just requested 270.70.17's and been good to go?

After putting over 50k miles on my Hankooks (two years)
I bought some new shoes.
(more like BOOTS)

Yes, they will fit. I run 255-80's with a three inch lift, had to trim some from the fender liner but they fit.

Found some old photos from 2015 when I upgraded my 4Runner from a Daystar spacer lift to a Rancho RS9000XL QuickLift. It was a fun project for me one day after work at the Mercedes/Porsche shop I worked for at the time. Look how much thicker the Rancho's are than the OEM!!!!

Noob here. Just got my 2005 Sport. Dropped in a level 1 Icon 3” and swapped out for 285/70 R17 BFGs on the stock rims. Love the setup, but weighing either spacers, new rims, or UCAs to resolve some rubbing issues on the control arms.

Finally finished my upgrade! Took me 7 hours to do the install all by myself which was a bit longer than I expected, but I'm extremely happy with the result. Biggest hiccups during install was a sway bar bolt that kept spinning, leaking inner CV boots, and the time it took to fit the rear springs. I used the bottle jack method on the rear axle and it just took forever to turn that thing. I prepped everything by watching YouTube videos and made sure I had all the right tools. Ratcheting wrenches are a must and the strap wrench for the rear shocks was clutch. Specs are:

Bilstein 5100s all around, set to 0
OME 884 front with 1/2" spacer on driver and 3/8" spacer on passenger
Toytec Superflex rears
SPC UCA's
Nitto Terra Grapplers G2 285/70/17
Spidertrax spacers

Alignment came in perfect, I'm glad I got the upper control arms. I think the tires are perfect and the spacers give it a nice stance. Let me know if you have any questions!

First photo is after lift, 2nd and 3rd are after tire install and alignment.

This looks perfect! Exactly the look I'm going for with the '04 V8 Limited I just picked up. Same tire is my first choice.

How much trimming/cutting did you have to do for clearance? What size spacers?
