Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

Nothing special here. Thinking of removing the mud flaps in the front and rear, not that it rubs. But maybe a better look?

You went up a notch on your fronts?

Let me know when you get the 3.5 in the rear, can't wait to see it.

You went up a notch on your fronts?

Well here is the reason why, I did the driver side up one last week to fix the 4Runner lean at our height it seemed to stand out more to me and when driving looking out over the hood I can see my rig slanted and when parked looking at it from the front you could see it clearly, so "that's what people see when I'm coming at them or sitting at a light"? I think to myself "oh hell no". but not so much from the back due to the spacer I'm assuming.
So I went up a notch to correct that. It worked and looked good put level on it and good to go... I thought, well I was as far as being level but it caused problems for me inparticuliar having one up higher than the other with body mount chop, no sway bars, and worn out strut top plate mount and cracked, flattened rubber mount isolator would cause the passenger side to make a pop kinda sound when doing a turn then kinda of a thud with a slight side shift on the front end when straightening back up out of the turn, well then periodically just every so often this depending on my speed of this turning event combined with side shifting on the front would make my locker think and react to engage for a slight moment only because the front only shifted out of a turn so once straight the locker let off so in that couple second window she would wind up but as fast as she wound up it had to let off so that quick burst of torque would result in the rear doing its own quick side shift with a thud out of a turn. Didn't cause any danger to steering or put in harms way it just woke you up, what the f was that? So I caught its pattern and then figured out the root cause ...me and ocd of looking right, and my blown out original strut mounts with over 250k on them hahahaha. So up to the second perch with the passenger side she went and all problems stopped.
What's really funny is literally just now my new driver and passenger side strut mount complete kits just arrived ..go figure.

Wasn't expecting a novel from that ...kinda question mark, did ya? Lol
And yes would be the first to know and see what the all pro's will do. Fingers crossed, brotha.

So, to clarify (For those that are trying to decide on a lift)... The rake you see on my truck is caused by using the Toytec Superflex 2.0 HD's, not the standard 2.0 coils. I should have double checked the order before installing. I'm going to be swapping them out tomorrow, and will post some new pics when I'm done. It should lower the rear significantly, as the HD coils are meant to provide 2.5" lift with 400 extra pounds. lol. Hope this info is helpful
That looks like El Cajon area where I use to live by Gillespie Field.

i will be honest, the old owner replaced it before it sold to me, and forgot the setting. but i did measure ground to fender from a stock sport and mine. I am 3 inches up front and .75 in rear. hope that helps.

Oneluv13T4R,

I'm installing my OME 885/90000 896/60004 here soon and from what I've read it should give me a little over 3" all around without added weight and shouldn't compress much when I put bumpers on. My problem is deciding on a tire size. I'm currently running 265/70r17 right now stock height with no rubbing. I want to go to 285/70 but I'm not sure if it's going to rub. I have the 1.25" spidertrax wheel spacers to install. I want a taller, wider tire that isn't going to rub at 3" or just over.

Also I'm leaning towards the KO2s but the Duratracs don't seem to be bad either. What's everyones opinion on the tires? Thanks guys.

I just put general grabber at2. I too looked at the duratracs and bfg's. But I really like the generals and they were about $200 less.

Did you go strictly off the price? Right now price isn't going to be an issue for me. I just want to make sure that I am getting the tire that I want and that will last.

No I actually went off quite a few recommendations on here. Somewhere there is a general grabber thread. They are super quiet too.

If your not rubbing that size at stock you should be fine with 285 on a 3".
But as I read more here's gonna be your problem now ...1 your changing tire brand and style of tire. As each brand of tire size and width are all different cause even though 2 different brand of tires are marked 285/70/17 say duratracs and BFG they are not the same size in anyway except the 17" part. Some brands are on the smaller side of 285/70/17 and some run on the larger side in that size catagory being width and height.
So yes you would have no issues if stuck with the same brand and style of tire....in 285
But then your second issue will be adding wheel spacers ...spacers don't necessarily help with clearance issues, usually if not needed to fix a clearance issue with tires and you add them for looks (wider stance) then you create a rubbing issue cause a wider stance equals a wider swing when turning your tires which means fenders and trims get in the way, so then you have to make a decision are you ok trim in and cutting up your rig and if not bye bye spacers or even bye bye tires for a different brand in the same size which will probably be a couple tires you don't like or a smaller size tire cause you would like to keep the wider stance look but not cut up your rig neither.
As far as the last part of your question .. I would have no idea which tire is going to be the one to meet all those requirements ..only someone with the same exact set up you are going to do knows that answer ...or do a lot of skimming and searching members rig descriptions.

Good luck brotha
I hope you this doesn't confuse you or cause you a headache...
And FYI there are plenty of which tire is better battle threads throughout the forums you could read instead of starting another one ..when you ask opinions BFG or duratracs? :vader:Battle has begun grab a jar of aspirin :lalala:or edit and remove that part. LOL

Thanks for the help man. I guess I'll just have to install and see how it goes. Then I'll post it somewhere lol. I'd rather not cut up my bumpers but I'm scared to either. Either way I'll figure it out! Thanks again.

Consider 265/75/17s

I'm going with Cooper ST/Maxx. Just another option for you.

Bilstein and ARB

I have Bilstein 5100's all around. I have arb 884's up front and the 895 in back. Love the height and the ride is nice. My wife even commented on how nice a ride it is.
