Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

Could I use spring compressors to adjust the c clip on the shocks? I've read that they are prone to failure so it got me thinking.. would 2 sets of spring compressors per shock be safer and more effective?

You can ive done it ..just using one set.
But honestly it’s faster just to pull it and do it in a vice or on a table really quick using the springs compressors.
Dont be afraid of spring compressors just make sure you put them on opposite side of each evenly straight across and centered and the pins are pushed all the way in ..wrench down on them evenly if you you 10-20 turns one jump to the other side and do the same ...I just watch as I hit them with an impact that the threaded rod is always even with one another

Looking into the 2014 or whatever the year they came out FJ 17x7.5 +15 or Sequoia 6 spoke gunmetal wheels in the same specs.

Anyone know the weight of these two wheels?

Any known strength issues for mild to mid off road use?

Thanks:)
Rick

Hey again. Also, can make you ANY SIZE you want, any size, not just 1/4" increments. Also, these kits are sold by the amount of lift they give WHEN installed.

Again, I can have ANY SIZE spacer made that you guys want. 1.25" 2.65", lol, whatever.

Oops, sorry Jason, I'm misrepresented your product. I am still leaning toward getting a Cornfed from you.

I would suggest the Daystar front leveling kit. It’s a 1” spacer that will result in approxamtely a 2” lift. Then get some FJ springs for the rear. That will give you about .5” and improve the back. This will keep a little rake, not affect the handling much, and be very cheap. It also will be seamless with the XREAS. I have a similar setup, a Daystar level with Dobinsons 599 1” Springs in the back. The handling characteristics are very similar to stock.

Falcon3, I am considering the Daystars. I am trying to keep things as simple as possible, so I am going to leave the rear stock. I wonder if they are a little tall if I leave the rear stock. How long have you had them? Have they sagged at all?

What engine do you have? The V8 is heavier and probably has sagged down the springs on the front even more like mine did. If you have the V6 then you shouldn't have to worry as much. I ended up having to do a 3.5" front coil spacer (idk which manufacturer). It works just fine with the XREAS, was only like $50, and leveled it perfect. I have the V8

HCWatson997, Wow, yours needed 3.5" to be level?!! I think my Runner would look like a yacht with the front up 3.5". I'm a V6.

2016 Taco shocks all 4 corner. The Taco coil-overs with UCA's on the front leveledout the body.

265 70 17 Wildpeaks mounted on 17x8.5 Method Mesh 0 offset

Got new wheels and tires mounted up today. No lift yet so I do have a fair amount of rubbing even going forward. Already have FJ springs and Shocks ready to be installed but just need to pick up a mild addition lift for the front. Thinking going with DS 1".

Had to remove front mud flaps plastic piece of front bumper due to the offset

Anyone have suggestions to eliminate road walking? Is it standard to replace UCAs to accommodate for this?

My understanding is UCA's are required if you lift the rig +3" so that you can maintain toe and camber settings close to factory otherwise you risk unusual tire wear.

Lift install.

Couple of days ago I got to install the new Icon Stage 2 suspension. It was a super fun project and much easier than I thought it would be. Next up going from factory 17" wheels down to 16's from a '04 runner and Goodyear Wrangler MTR Kevlar tires 285/75/16. Not the sexiest pics but for those that like wrenching you understand :jump: Notice the new UCA ball "Delta Joint".

This brought the whole rig up 3" front and rear. With additional rear load I think it'll ride perfect.

Quick answer: yes, aftermarket UCA’s will help. It’s your caster that’s probably out of whack after the lift. Aftermarket UCA’s will allow you to get a better positive caster which will improve driving stability. It’s the angle pivot of the steering axis. You want to get as close to 4 as you can.

Thanks! Kinda mind blowing that a $120 lift kit turns into a $1,000.00 lift kit since it requires an additional $800 purchase of UCA's to function properly... :redbrick:

$800? You can get good UCA's from the group buy section for $400 shipped.

Wow, i bought the same rims and tires (tires are 285 though). Havent put them on yet. Waiting for my lugnuts to come in. I'll post a pic up next week. Probably going to be some rubbing in the wheel well. Got the same lift as you.

I started out having the shop install the 285's thinking I could clear them since I was already clearing 265's with no lift..... BIG HUGE NO..... When they backed out of the bay I thought the 285's were going to rip my front bumper off lol. They looked awesome but with the 2.5" lift/HeloHE878/285s your only option would be driving straight haha. I was bummed that I had to pull them off and go with 265s but there was no way. It was rubbing in about 87 different places.

Even the 265's were rubbing pretty significantly and had to remove a few trim pieces just to clear them... It's all due to the -12mm offset that the HE878's have. Hope this helps out!
