Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

Just FYI in case you're not aware-- those might not clear your calipers depending on which brakes you have.

Yep I found that out the hard way haha. Put them on and the truck didnt wanna move. No sweat, I might sell them and get some 17"s or just redo the front brakes. Not sure yet. I really like these wheels and wanna run them

So I went to a tire shop and they installed Bilsteins all around with it adjusted for 2.5 lift and nothing in the rear for 285/70/17 on stock 7.5 wheels. It looks level and they only rubbed a little at full lock while still having all the mud-flaps on - but going home I noticed the MPG on the dash read about 14MPG instead of the usual 19+ MPG.

Once I pulled in at home I tried to pass two sheets of paper between the tire and UCA. It passes but there isn't room for another sheet of paper! It hasn't been aligned yet and I imagine the tire will be right up against the UCA when it's aligned.

I think wheel spacers will solve this problem on the cheap. The tire shop said they will loan me wheel spacers until I get hub-centric spacers in. What do you think? 1.25" spacers?

This is what you want. I have in stock.

If you don’t want a full 1.25” you can go with BORA spacers. They do anything between.75” to 1.5”

Are these better than what is offered on Amazon for less than half price? They both use 6061-T6 but the Amazon one specs the use of 10.9 grade bolt which Spidertrax doesn't specify. Is there much difference otherwise to warrant the price difference?

Yes. I personally wouldn't skimp with anything that is connected to your wheels and tires! All it takes is an accident or something where a subpar part can cause an issue. I went with the spider brand because they are the best and not putting my family in jeopardy and I want the peace of mind since they've been around forever. Also I liked that the spider are double anodized finish so the costing lasts. My neighbor did the ebay ones and it's already worn when I helped him swap his wheels. You just have to watch these auctions sites cause I've seen part where they stamp made in usa and it's still made in china and the metal isn't the same density.

2. Tire brand & size

265/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers

3. Like the results? or Would you do anything different?

I'm currently very happy with how the setup rides and performs. The wheels were very cheap and new, primarily bought because my stock wheels had extreme pitting and leaked due to the corrosion. I now don't need to run spacers and have an 8 inch wide wheel that i don't care too much about damaging!

The tires were bought when i put the 5100's on it last year, and look small now that I raised it. When these wear out, I plan on getting a matching spare with some 255/80/17's

The front end feels perfect and no longer dangerous. If I was going to do it again, I would do it the exact same way. It was a very big job replacing everything at once!

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or ask! I feel very confident talking about the repairing process now that I've gone through it with seized LCA's (all 4 alignment cams) and almost all bad parts to deal with.

Niffnorf looks like the 2.5/1.5 kit. Not the 1" budget boost, right?

I just did the 2.5 front daystar leveling kit
stock RAS

Just got back from 4 days 460km on FSR’s.
Not a rub or noise. Loving it.
You have a nice ride.

I'm not sure why my 2007 can fit 285/70/17 with stock 7.5 wheels and look level with no lift in the back and 2.5" lift with Bilsteins. I do know that there was quite a bit of rake. Maybe it's less than 2.5 because the shocks are worn.

However, I think that will change when I add wheel spacers. Does anyone know if I actually need to lift the rear because the spacers will make the tire protrude at or beyond the fender well and will rub on the upper lip when hitting a bump? I'm just imagining this in my head with no real experience.

Wheel spacers are for those who do not want to buy, or not ready to buy, aftermarket wheels with the right offset. Is that correct?

The tire shop let me borrow non-hub centric spacers (1.25 - that's all he had on hand) and did a little trimming with a box cutter and moved the wheel liner up a little by pushing it forward and relocating the fastening bolt. We removed the mud-flaps as well. No more rubbing!

Not sure running with "Non-hub centric spacers" is a good idea.
You might want to research that further.

Oh man those look amazing!
I have a set of black Ray10's ready to go on but those bronze look good.
I have bounced back and forth between black and bronze as I was worried the shadow mica wasn't quite black so might look weird with the bronze but these look pretty great.
Share more pics!!

I'm not gonna lie, I was a little uneasy about the combo. Once you see them in person and mount them on though, its sexy. I love the look of them and definitely think they're the best color for mica. I'll try and get some pics. I sold my alpha so stuck with phone pics for the time being.

Love your project as well. How have the Elkas been running?
