Use the search function on craigslist and check places that maybe aren't local to you but you would be willing to go to get one. You may be doing that already. But, I find that some people aren't as on top of things as I am when I'm trying to sell things on there. I sold my daughter's car on a Friday and had been keeping my eye on 4runners while the car was for sale. But once we sold it, we wanted to get something else fairly fast. We spent Saturday morning scouring CL and auto trader, expanding our search radius as we went. The one I ended up buying (2000 Ltd. with 125k and already had quite a bit of work done to it) I found 5 hours away from me. I found on 11/19 by doing a search but the ad was placed on 11/7 and hadn't been renewed since. Usually when I see that, I assume they sold it. But I took a shot and sent an email and the guy still had it. It just happened to be on a city where my daughter's boyfriend goes to school so I was able to send him out to check it out for me. Turned out the guy wasn't pushing hard to sell it because he really didn't want to. It was his wife's DD and they got her a new Lexus, so he thought the T4R was going to be his toy. But she was pushing to sell it. You never know...

I appreciate it, I gave up on local about a week into my search, I check about 10 different cities around me every day about 2 or 3 times a day. I have been searching with in about a 400 mile radius for the most part. That is what happened to me earlier I had a 99 I was going to buy and the guy backed out.

It is high miles...I was thinking that before I bought mine, but after reading about everyones with 200k +, I didn't worry about it. Plus is has a pretty well documented history, so you can tell how its been treated. But yes, that 4Runner is nice.

Don't be afraid to search ebay. I just bought my first 4Runner off there a few weeks ago. (4th Ebay car) Got a steal on a 98 Limited, lady driven, original owner, dealer service records from day one, perfect condition. If you consider ebay, only look for private sellers in my opinion. You never know what you're going to get from a wholesaler on there. Talk to the owner and ask a lot of questions. I talked to the guy several times before making the decision. I'm in Nashville and I was confident enough that the guy wasn't BS'n me that I flew to Philly, checked it out, paid him and drove it home. The guy even bought me a real Philly cheese steak! :tongue: Be patient, good ones are getting rare but they're out there.

I know this isn't the classifieds section but I don't have enough posts to post in that section. I am trying to find a lifted 99-2002 Sport or Limited, preferably a Sport in Grey, Black, Silver, or Green in good shape with relatively low mileage for the year. I am ready to buy now and had one I was going to purchase I drove 2 and half hours to look at it but the guy decided he was going to hold off on selling it. If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it. I am in the Chattanooga, TN area.

I think I may have found one, 99 4runner Highlander, it is about 5 hours away, has 155,000 miles, and has the e-locker. What do you guys think?

It is actually at a dealership, that is what they were doing when I called about it, putting new brakes on it and detailing it.

I haven't talked to them about the service history yet, they just got it in that's why lts still dirty, car fax is clean, they are asking 6875.00 for it. What do you guys think is a good price?
